I usually put water for 5 minutes then dump it again so no more frozen cubes the next morning.. they should get enough moisture for the day.. or you can do soak bread with water with electolytes so that they can get enough moisture..

In upstate ny.. I dont have any much hawk problems lately.. coz my birds are really alert and aware of there surroundings.. even though there are too many raptors around here sometimes 7 or 8 on groups at a time i havent lost any yet..
