First time incubating Marans and Olive Eggers

I am excited to receive our first hatching eggs in the mail this week! We have a Hovo Bator that we borrowed from a friend. I have read and watched You Tube videos on how to ensure maximum hatch rates. If you can share your personal experiences I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

    Help! Sick chicken or broody?

This is great. She is still sluggish but I saw her take a bite on white bread and drank a bit. She is up and walking and picked on grass as well. She goes back under the seat but does not "sit" down. Just stays up. When we opened the coop this morning, she was sitting on the drop board and...

What are you feeding your flock?

I am new to chickens so please bear with me. I am feeding our laying hens layer feed. I give them watermelon, tomatoes, greens, and mealworms daily. Should I give them a chance to just eat the feed to get enough proteins? How often do you give treats to your chickens? How much? I also...

How much do you sell your eggs for?

I had been buying eggs for $5/18 before we got our own chickens. I think that's actually cheap.

Hens stopped laying eggs - sorry if this has been answered before

On July 31st, we got four laying hens and their coop (she says they maybe over 18 months old) from the same lady whom we had been buying eggs from. They continued to lay 2 eggs the first week we got them. There were 2 soft ones mixed in these, and this week it's totally stopped. We understand...
