The Jenki-Bator--front view
The temperatures are stable with 1 degree range of 99.5. I am having to work hard to raise the humidity for day 18-21.
The hole in the front of the eggs was for my attept at an egg turner, it didn't work as expected! Notice the web cam in the upper left. This...
That was my thoughts! I candled friday and they looked good. One looked less developed but still looked vital. I think I'll do that! I would love to hear what others think.
Here are my first two muscovies ever! I got six eggs from a friend who had "put them under a hen" My question is how long to wait for the last 4 to hatch? I thought these 2 were about a week early, should I continue to incubate the last four for another week and see what happens? Should I...
Does anybody have a photo of a crested pekin duckling? I have searched the site and not been able to find one. Wow, wouldn't you know it, I blow my one in a million odds on a duck instead of a million dollar jackpot!
I hatched 6 pekins on monday. All look normal but one looks like he is crested. Is this possible and can you really tell this early. A friend told me he look like he just slept wrong and his feathers were sticking up but they have been that way since soon after he hatched!
I haven't hatched a ton of eggs but I have had two batches that were hatched in my homemade incubator successfully! My first hatch with "mutt" eggs hatched 14 of 16 fertilized eggs successfully and my second hatched 6 of 6 duck eggs successfully! My incubator uses a 60 watt light bulb and a...
Here are five of the six, one to go and he has been pipped since yesterday morning! (hurry up!!!!) I guess they will be perfect for Easter pictures with my 4 year old little girl!
I have built a new cabinet type incubator and was curious to the dimesions or various types of autoturners. I am looking at the LG and hova-bator ones. does onyone have a preference between the two and if so why? Any advice welcome!
Here is my official entry! I read the rules and noticed I had to add the pics to my BYC page. Hope to put update pics ASAP. Inspired by Miss Prissy's breadbox incubator!

Here's mine. Eggs were set 1/27. This will be our first hatch. Candled them yesterday and all but 2 seemed to be developing. Can't wait to see what we have. They are mutts but the only thing we know for sure is the rooster. He is a buff.
If you want to spend a little money or already have one, you could use a computer battery backup. This would run it for a little while, longer if you don't have a fan inside.
I have a hen that I estimate is 6-7 months old that has black spots on its comb. I just noticed it today and the hen seems otherwise healthy. I have two other hens in my flock but haven't noticed this on them. What is this, do I need to worry, and what can I do to remedy this? Thanks for any...
Thanks, very new at this! I only have one laying now (out of 3) and I don't want anything to happen to her. I hope my others will begin laying soon. They were adopted and I don't know how old they are.
I have a bantie that has been laying for well over 2 weeks in our nesting boxes. Yesterday I was cleaning out the run and found one of her oeggs in a corner with what looked to be a smear of blood on it. I took it inside and did the float test to make sure it was ok (it was) and the smear...
