FOXHALL FARM
LETS BE HONEST, IT'S NOT REALLY A FARM SO MUCH AS A BIRDY B&B.
WE KEEP MAINLY SILKIES WHICH WE BREED ON A SMALL SCALE, SOME KHAKI CAMPBELLS WHICH WE HATCHED OUR SELVES AND WHO HAVE PROVED THEMSELVES TO BE REALLY EXCELLANT LAYERS, AND A MIXED FLOCK OF LAYERS INCLUDING SOME HYBRID...
Hi Mike, I can't help you much but here's a bump anyway to get u started.
My incubator cut out for a few hours last Sunday and yet 15 of 23 still hatched out so don't give up hope, let us know if any hatch, best of luck!
Hi Beth, I would guess either mallard or khaki campbell for breed and as for gender, if you listen carefully to the sounds they make you should be able to tell the boys from the girls at 7 weeks. The girls will make a clearer chirping sound whereas the boy's voices will be raspier & hoarser...
Thanks guys, much appreciated. It looks like I might have some mule babies anyway Bleenie...I had put some eggs in the incubator believing them to be pb cayuga & after candling there are signs of life so whatever they are, they'll be welcome
Hi all, can anyone out there tell me the answer to this problem.
We recently discovered our Muscovy drake was having an affair with our Cayuga duck.
She is now safely secured in a seperate pen with her own husband.
How long should I wait before using her eggs to produce little Cayugas?
Hi there, hope this is of some help to you...first off, incubating ducks at home can be a bit tricky, do your research and try to keep the humidity & temp at the correct levels for each stage if you can but then I presume you have been reading up on all that already.
I keep a pair of Cayuga...
I just had a look at your list of duck names...phew, you've had one or two haven't you?
I had two rabbits called Nibbles when I was a child (well, Nibbles and then roughly 2 years later, Nibbles 2!) Good name for a duck tho!
@ NotaFarm, Wow..you're quick off the mark! Ha ha, I love it, think he would too actually!
@ Goat-Walker I like the way you think, sounds like you put a lot of thought into naming them but I agree with you on only naming the keepers. The drake was a rescue case and I wasn't quite certain about...
Hi all, just wondering what are the most common or most unique names you have given to your muscovies? I have just one pair who I've had since last year & so far they've survived without names but I'm now so fond of them I want to give them their own names & make them feel more like part of the...
I can't help u here but I hope someone else can, that's something I've been wondering about too. I do know they lay a lot of eggs before they sit on the clutch, so not sure but maybe u should start leaving the eggs in the nest. Mine haven't even started laying yet....I'm getting worried! Best of...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending here, I can't stop checking in for updates, best of luck to you!(& y'know I'm Irish so that means something!)
Hi there, can anyone tell me please, if I run a partridge cockeral with a black hen or a lavender hen what colours might the chicks be? thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
