What is the ideal number of eggs that should go into this incubator that would result in a good hatch rate? I know the temperature doesn't distribute all through the incubator so I was curious.
I have 2 eggs left that have pipped. They haven't moved or done anything for the past 24 hours. Should I candle them sometime and see if they're still alive?
Thanks so much. You gave such good advice. I will leave it closed till the hatch is over. I am already at 50% hatch rate with 2 more eggs pipped. I don't want to risk losing them.
It may take a little bit. I'm on day 23 today and still have chicks hatching. The first egg pipped early Sunday on day 21 and didn't hatch till late at night on day 22. Over 24 hours!! This is my first time as well. I have learned that they do vary a lot. Just be patient.
Okay, I'm just worried about the first chick that hatched. Will he go hungry and die? Or will he be okay? They could take a while because lately, they didn't hatch till 24 hours after the first pip. I read that the chicks can only be in there for 48 hours after hatch.
It's day 23 for me and I have 3 chicks so far out of 6 egg. 2 more eggs have pipped last night. I want to take the theee chicks out and move them to the brooder because it's been 48 hours since the first chick hatched. Will it no okay to take those chicks out before the others ones hatch or will...
It's lockdown day for me today. I just put my eggs on lockdown. I have a Little Giant 9300 still air incubator. I have an accurite hygrometer in there. I filled all 6 water trays and it only say humidity is 53%. Does it take a few hours for it to go up? Is the hygrometer junk? Or do I really...
Thank you guys both so much. You both helped me tremendously. Starting tonight at about 11 p.m., I will put my incubator on lockdown since 11 p.m. will be the start of day 18. I will fill the water trays and put damp paper towels in there to keep the humidity up.
Thanks!
This is my first time incubating eggs. I am now on day 17. I first put the eggs in on a Sunday night at 11 p.m. My question is, does day 18 start tonight at 11 p.m.? Also, I have a Little Giant 9300 still air incubator. How many water trays do I fill up for the humidity on day 18? Do I need wet...
Hello, my buff orpington is broody but she won't sit on the eggs. She just got broody yesterday. She clucks and puffs up and everything. I wish she would sit on them. I want babies. Can anyone help? Thanks!
I have plenty of room for them. I just don't know which flock to put them in based in the age of them. I can put them wherever I want. I just want to know what age group flock to put them in.
