Take an old stock tank, 3 aluminum satellite dishes, a couple of iron wagon wheels, a rear wheel from a riding mower, 2 never flat bicycle wheels, a couple of cattle panels, 2 x 4's, welded wire, chicken wire, T-111 siding, styrofoam insulation, discarded commercial gym set (PVC with metal pipe...
Really tough question to answer given the circmustances-not handy and don't want it to look ugly. It is possible to un-weave chain link but that would require a replacement link. The box stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) have some but the shortest section is probably 25' and may not be the same...

If the grass is mowed I can move it by myself but at 63 I usually just hook up the riding mower. The cattle panel portion is easily moved by hand. The bicycle wheels are on lawnmower height adjustment gizmo's so I can raise the bottom off of the ground. The blue thing leaning up against...

Thanks bison. I had thought about wrapping them with chicken wire (sounds uncomfortable) or maybe some of that rubbery tool dipping stuff. Also considering cedar limbs of the appropriate size.
Has anyone tried PVC pipe as roosts or is it "too slick"? I need a couple of semi-circle roosts for a new chicken tractor. Pictures and details to follow.
Good looking home for the "feathered pigs". Never heard that phrase before but it sure fits. Haven't seen much that a chicken won't eat. I agree with Dave about the treads for the inclined entry plank. Makes it a little easier for those days when they don't feel like flying or sliding.
medtec113-great looking chicken quarters. They'll love it.
Is there some type of cover over the fan in the roof or will rain be pouring into the fan and your chicken house?
Don't know where you're located but here in DFW, Texas the wind would make short work of the white panels. The...
Raising Chickens for Dummies purchased from BackYard Chickens (Thank You) suggests and I quote " a minimum of 2 square feet of indoor shelter area per bird (actually, 3 to 4 feet is better) and 3 to 6 square feet of outdoor run area per bird".
Number wise you're okay but I hope there's an...
Good idea on the plunger. I looked at the listing and noticed at the bottom of the page someone has added that it will not pull in at 15 volts but works well in the 18-24 volt DC range. I think 24v transformers are readily available at the box stores. To prevent the solenoid from binding mount...
I like your setup. Always good to see folks thinking outside of the box. I don't wish to "rain on your parade" but I'll post my experience. Killing will be involved if that disturbs anyone.
I had a similiar setup but found that coon's have no problem raising the sliding door to get to the...
