Are they Seramas? How old are they? I ask because I'm brooding 12 chickens in my living room right now and if about half are roos, maybe I can start finding homes for the ones we can't keep sooner rather than later. 5 are Silkies, so they'll be around for a while before I figure out who's who...
Me too! Idk if I could process my own, even a jerky roo. I did have one years ago. They are illegal here too, but you can hear them all over my neighborhood. My neighbors at the time "ok'd" me having a roo, but I still could have gotten a fine if somebody wanted to turn me in. It's too bad, BC I...
We are waiting to see who we are going to keep out of our staggered hatch of 5 Silkies, and 6 Seramas. I think we have two Silkie Roos for sure because they constantly fight, but I'd be disappointed if I gave away a pullet.
Went to put my Serama eggs into lockdown and already had 4 out of 7 pips! Two hours later, came back to this! They're early! And this little guy is peeping up a storm.
You have the two eggs, right? Sorry. It's difficult to keep track of everybody! Are they chicken eggs? I have never seen the shadow of the beak in the air cell on mine, but I heard the peeping. Maybe I just don't know what I'm looking at/for. I'm pretty new at this hatching business. Lol My last...

Thank you for that link! It's completely make sense! My little guy was an almost 3 day long assisted patch and he has the shortest legs we've ever seen! I have no doubt that left to nature he would not have made it out of the shell. In fact he sometimes flips over on his back and...
My local Serama eggs are doing well. 7 out of 10 have perfect development and air cells. Which, makes me so happy because the last two attempts were total flops. Out of 30-something eggs, I got one chick, and he was an assisted hatch. BUT, they were shipped in very hot, very humid weather and...
I know there's a ton more information about it somewhere on here. I heard also, that it's not uncommon for them to die shortly after hatch also. But I'm not deterred. It's a little sad, but it makes them just that much more special! :) There's also all kinds of tips/tricks and advice on getting...
We are on our second attempt at shipped Serama eggs. We had one almost make it out of the first, but they had a rough trip. I hear Seramas are a difficult breed to hatch alone because of their small size, delicate eggs and lethal gene and shipping adds it's own schlew complications. But we're...
