Thank! I hope this was a one time thing. I wont have the heart to take her eggs if she is broody from now on and we have a limit one how many animals we can have cause we are in town. And i think 3 females and 1 male is a sufficient amount for us right now.
I lock them in the coop at night to stop wild or stay animals from getting to them. She is a great mama she has shower her how to root and where the food and water is, they even went for a dip in the pond for a few mins yesterday. We let them have full range of the back yard and they went on an...
I have them both in the coop. And the drake locked out because he was being mean after the duckling was born. She is being a really good mama she keeps the babe tucked up in the nest under her. Especially when i go poking my head in and she gets her feathers in a ruffle and tries butting my hand...
We jus happen to get a blizzard for the first time in 40 years. Im wondering if that had anything to do with it because thats when she suddenly went broody with only two eggs in her nest.
I was also wondering when she will start laying eggs again? Will she wait until her babe is grown?
Thank you! I have the lil food and water dishes that i started her mama and dad with so i filled them up for it. I live in SE New Mexico so it gets pretty warm during the day but mama keeps the babe tucked up in the nest when im around so im not sure if the lil one is even running the coop yet...
I have a pekin duck that went broody and hatched one duckling. Ive only raised ducklings inside and im not sure what i need to do for mama duck and her duckling outside. She is in the coop with a heat lamp water and food but what do i do for the duckling? Does mama duck let it out of the nest to...
Yes a pekin. So its normal?? I was so scared that was the yolk that people talked about not being absorbed. ive got it all snugged in this. Should i let the lil thing out to dry?
It kept trying to run and drag its egg and the stuff around around,Im almost sure it hatched to early. I was scared it was going to pull its onsides out, there was a red membrane still in the egg i pulled out and wrapped it and the duck up in a wet paper towel and stuck it in a dixie cup...
it didnt zip out. It made a big hole, i think it was having a hard time moving around. One time its got a decent size hole the next it looks like it shoved its way out. Seemed real quick to me
Nothing more than the pip. There is a fan running in there, thats not going to dry it out is it? And the humidity keeps raising and lowering on its own. I have a lil less than 24 hrs and its been 48 hr
Yes! Ive done hardley anything, i keep running back to the incubator every five minutes and staring at it. I know i wont sleep tonight. This is my first hatching i hope it goes smoothely.
