Yikes! I hope she does okay--- she looks a bit ragged in the video because she is right in the middle of her moult AND not used to the diaper yet--- I'm trying to think--- I'm surprised she never had any issues--- her owner kept her, her buddy, and a goffin boarded at the bird store for well...
When I first met Onyx, she was paired with a WB caique she had been raised with. Unfortunately the WB caique had a stroke and died. The owner decided she needed to rehome her birds a few months later and knowin that Onyx had bonded with me offered her to me.
So yeah, Onyx is single caique...
I'm concerned that th chickens that ate so much cannot take in enough water to dilute the starches enough as it feels like they've all bound together in a huge softball sized mass.
I wasn't even concerned until I saw and felt humongous bulging crops. I'm still watching to see if they will be ok, but some of them have huge oddly shaped rock hard crops which is why I am here.
Ok, so today my mom mentioned that something got into the rice so she had it taken out to the chickens---- on Tuesday.
I was in the coop tonight and noticed my RIR hen and a few others had bulgy and unbalanced looking crops. I felt them and could feel the rice in there.
What do I do? I was...
Hey there!
I've been trying to talk my parents into selling some of the eggs from our free ranged mixed flock of BO's, RIRs, welsummers, EEs and two blue cochins.
If we could just sell a couple dozen every month for about 4-5$ a dozen (people would pay it here too), it would pay for their...
Yes, I took that picture after seeing that commercial, because I know Cashew is a much better looking Chewie than the one they have there... I just wish I could get that authentic looking doggie wookie bandolier!!!!
I'm starting to think you're right--- I was looking at him this morning and his comb is slightly redder and wider than the other EE cross. Bummer. Now I have two roos to deal with. Ahh well. As long as the other two stay hens, I'm good.
Okay, here's some more photos--- I apologize for the poor quality... it's after dark here so these are just taken in the bathroom where the brooder is set up.
(the reddish uplighting is from the heatlamp which is down and to the side of the sink s/he is perched on, just fyi)...
I don't know if these two count, but they hatched from my flock of buff orpingtons (the rooster is an orpington), EEs, welsummers, RIRs and blue cochins....
Being as they both have greenish tinged legs, poofy faces, and pea comb, I'm going to roll with it that these two are buff orpington x EE...
Yeah, I think the orp rooster has been very obvious about what he is xD
I"m pretty sure the first EE cross and the orp that's not a rooster are hens...
But the second EE cross, I'm not sure about. It's feathering out slower, and I've heard that can mean rooster? Bah, still hoping for a hen...
