The pandemic has not really affected my life much. I stay at home most of the time, and don’t go out but maybe once or twice a month. So solitude in my home has been NO problem.
You know, if I don’t watch the news, I forget all about it.
I moved from Upstate NY to NC in 2020 right before the...
I have 6 pekin ducks outside and 7 chickens.
I keep this duck in the picture in the house, because I’ve imprinted him. He chirps loudly when I’m not around, so I have to.
I thought he was a mallard at first, but then I started looking at the Rouen ducks, and he favors them more.
I just want...
Curious, as to what kind of duck you think this is???
Thank you, Ducklingguy 🦆
ps. His name is Dunkin’. I got him only at 3 days old about a month ago.
I keep it all dry as much as possible, lay the hay over it all! 😆 The poop breaks down beneath it.
The duck coop anyway.
My chickens are honestly not that messy, not compared to the ducks.
I also have a pig, and it can get pretty bad. I do rake it out sometime in his pen. However, I lay hay...
I read that in an article earlier, but then read it could be a ruptured air sac.
I think it’s the crop, but it feels like it would be so painful; it isn’t to him at all. Not that I can tell.
After my duckling eats, he gets this little lump inferior to his neck, and near the chest. After some time, it goes away.
Is this normal? He is in no pain and drinks and eats, etc....
It’s only after he eats! Hmmmm??? Is this just the way ducks digest food! I read an article today, where...
I will be making whatever I can throw together tonite!
I have a garden of everything growing though! Can’t wait for the tomatoes to come in.
Ducklingguy 🦆
I’m sorry for your loss.
You gave her a beautiful life, I’m certain! Did the best you could do.
Ducks can be so strong yet fragile, I find. 😞
Take care,
Ducklingguy 🦆
I have a big garden this year! Started planting back in February, since it was fair.
Hopefully, everything keeps thriving! Awesome tomato plants! Turnips doing beautifully! I give the ducks the greens, and they love it.

Ps. I’m not saying your ducklings have the same issue as mine did. I’m just stating in the case of my ducklings!
Place them inside, and keep an eye on them.
Take them to a vet if you have the means and money. Some vets will work with you.
Perhaps you need to let them sleep inside, and keep an eye on them inside the house.
Or, are they inside?
I understand your worry, feelings, and frustration—as I had a sick chick inside for a few days! I did everything to save it. Unfortunately he died on me. I’m not saying the ducklings will...
I also have to agree, strange the parents aren’t around.
I know here in NC, it’s against the law to kill a goose! A big fine! I was thinking hunters, but nah.
If the gosling was left alone because of some predator killing the parents, I bet there’s more goslings—unless it’s the lone survivor.
I...
Those first pictures looks like a goose to me. The second has me second - guessing.
I’m honestly kinda new at ducks, as I just started raising them several months ago.
