MakMurray, do you have hatching eggs? I have an incubator and would be super fine hatching out rather than shipping poor live babies in the heat of the summer!
Will you post here if you find someone because I have ONE Self-blue d'uccle roo - lost all of my baby girls and well, he isn't going to give me babies on his own :(
Yeah, Mojo was such a sweetheart until he got girls - now he's kind of a jerk. LOVE Lucy & Ethel though. I'm going to try it, see how it goes and like you said, if they try to fly away, they'll get rehomed.
I have a breeding trio of mille fleur D'uccles....and a few chicks and possibly more coming O.o I purposely acquired the breed for breeding for hatching eggs. They have been residing in my front bedroom (currently a brooding room, etc... and an utter wreck!)
I want to move them outside and...
So, I am now officially on the schedule for March 31. But I think I have a pretty big hiccup. Here's the deal.
All of my flocks are of age to be tested and from what the rep told me, the offspring of these that recently hatched, although not old enough for testing will be considered done if...
Dutchlion....who did you email? I want to do this sooner rather than later so I figure I should start now (well, in about 3 weeks when my hatch is done) They test every bird in the yard?
Thanks!
Thinking of a twist on this....I keep my 50# of feed in totes (WAY easier for me to dump into) I was thinking of using the gravity feeder style plumbed out of the bottom of the totes? Vertical pipe would be considerably shorter (because I am short) - eliminates the need for those expensive top...
This is Mojo.....bless his heart, I've been trying to find a girlfriend for him and it's just not going well at all. Maybe in the spring.....unless somebody in here has a pullet or two??
Chicken math has gotten out of control in my backyard. Is there a Flock Swap coming any time soon around Burlington, NC??? Must off load some chickens!!!!
Fair warning........goat math is VERY similar to chicken math! Husband surprised me last January with a baby goat, after which I learned they need friends so 3 mos later, another goat (her sister). Added our first buckling in October and learned that the boys shouldn't really "live" with the...
None of my buff orpingtons or easter eggers (all very mature) are laying - or have layed since October >:O My cochins have recently started and I'm getting the occasional egg from my FBCM and my RIR/SFH cross. I've been bribing them with special breakfasts, decorating their coops, visiting...
I realize this is an old thread but I now have an 8-9 week old bottle fed boy (eats pellets, sweet feed, hay) and about anything else inside and out that he can get his lips on! He gets whole milk bottles now, has access to plenty of water but exhibits the "dog poop" position about once or...
I'm exploring this kind of thing as an option for keeping the pipe from freezing: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1292306&cp=3995014.1259053
My farm is actually a major "farmette" since our property is literally 1/3 of an acre with a house and front yard taking up a good 2/3 of that! Not sure I can justify any kind of hydrants! My area is actually small enough that I could seriously use electric blankets to keep freezing down! -...
