Much better, he's parading around the house in fact crowing, the only issue is, we can't keep him in here forever, we're planning on selling a few roosters to keep maybe two in the end and I would definitely want to keep him, another issue, his brother, (the one who beat him up) we would want to...
Yeah, I kind of figured that out after the fact, I assumed that since the comb was a whole lot smaller than other breeds, and he wasn't really having any comb or waddle development at a young age (that's him in my profile pic) or not that we really noticed anyways, but whatever, my bad, as for...
I got home to see my favorite chicken be completely covered in blood, apparently she had been attacked by another one of our chickens and was bleeding from her neck. My brother currently has her and is applying pressure to the wound, I don't know if she was pecked straight into the Trachea or...
Here are the photos, sorry it's a little dark, the sun sets at like 3 here now.
I just found out that this is technically a tractor coop but it works for now
I am happy to say that my Uncle has bought us a very nice chicken coop as a present, I am so happy that we have another coop now , and its a nice one too
Hi, thanks so much for your kindness and I will definitely take a look at some plans, but how exactly do you PM people?, (Lol, sorry i'm still learning about this website)
What area of new Brunswick do you live in, because I know that it can be a lot warmer there than here (specifically USDA zones) and I also had the cord plugged into a GFCI outlet that was pre-installed on my house and had just purchased that high quality outdoor extension cord (That just ended...
Well, like I said before, I think my best plan at this point is to build a small coop in a space in my garage over the Christmas break (So they don't have to deal with any more cold) and move that out in the spring and see if I can't get a better system set up. After all our old coop was kind of...
I like the idea, but like you said, yeah it gets pretty cold like -40F, I think i'll just make sure to prevent the fire from starting as best I can, like what blackdog said by putting a wire frame at the bottom of the bucket and fully securing the heat lamp (If we choose to use one again) But I...
Yeah, that's probably best so that it doesn't melt a hole in the bottom if something malfunctions or you just run out of water. I'll almost definitely do something like that in my next coop just to make sure it doesn't happen again.
I'll see if I can't find the box, but what seems to have happened is that it melted through the bucket and caught the straw on the ground on fire, maybe the water was all out?, everyone was kind of busy so unfortunately we hadn't checked on them in a little while.
Yeah, at the time of the fire the air was thankfully still but if it had burned down today, I probably wouldn't have a house either because it is so windy. And as for building a new coop, I think i'll just build a semi temporary structure in my garage and move the chickens in there when the...
We came back home at around 5 but by then the coop had already burned almost entirely to the ground, so I would guess it would have started around 3, and we had a small ventilated door on the side of the coop leading into the run so that the chickens could always get out, that's what had saved...
