We have a nice HOT pile. We are expecting ~6 inches of snow, do y'all think I should cover? I have an old piece of tin over now? Chicken poop and coffee grounds are the bomb!
Ok, we have 3 nest boxes, which have worked very well......until recently. 13 hens and they have always layed in the boxes. Now I'm finding eggs every where. On the floor in the coop, mostly in the corners, some right next to the feeder. They have never done this before. I will have to say...
Are EE's more sensitive to the lack of light? They are 17 months old and have been laying well, until the last 2 weeks. No eggs from either one of them. My other hens have slowed down, but they are still laying.
It's been a long time since fixing chicken stew in a big black pot. 8 gallons.
How much chicken, milk, broth etc. do you experts recommend. This is the country chicken
stew.... no potatoes, carrots, noodles. The stand around the fire, listen to some good bluegrass chicken stew.
Thanks for...
My DH and I will be leaving for a week beach trip.
We've never left the peeps before. They are almost
12 months old. We have great neighbors who
will be looking after them, i.e. water, food, scratch,
gathering eggs. They are in a secure and safe run/coop.
Not really worried, but, well, maybe...
Do you use the yellow sand, which is more cost effective,
but seems to clump more, or do you use the white sand,
which is more expensive, but may not clump as much?
I would be using it in the run area only.
Have you guys heard about the incident in Wake County,
where a 4 year olds lunch was taken away because it
wasn't USDA approved? The mother had packed a turkey
and cheese sandwich, an apple, potato chips and apple
juice. They took that lunch away from him?
What will they take next?
Meaning of course.....left handed!
I am, and am usually outnumbered.
However, my DH, BF and her DH and boyfriend
went out to eat, and my DH was the only righty in
the group. First time that's ever happened to me.
Also, what have been some of the most frustrating
things to deal with being in...
Does this happen alot? It felt lighter
than the other eggs and had a small crack
at the bottom with some discoloration. I cracked
it and there was no yellow. What in the world?
Has anyone tried these? I met someone the other day who
has/had a 3 pack a day habit, and she says the e cigarette has
helped.
I am interested/thinking about trying to quit smoking, and I thought
this might help. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
So, we've had 1 - 2 inches of rain in the last 8 hours, and
our run, which I have been happy with, up until today, is
a swimming pool, almost. Maybe I need ducks! So, my
question is, what do I do? Sand sounds so expensive. What
do ya think about going out in the woods and lifting the top
of...
One of my 6 month old girls has a bare bottom.
It happened literally overnight. There is no blood,
pus, etc. She is eating, drinking and pooing within
normal. I have read here that this may be normal.
Really? It looks weird!
My brown eggs are coming with a white chalky substance
on really just half of the egg. What is this? I hope
it's not anything to be worried about.
One more question, stupid as it may be....
Does the small end of the egg come out before
the large end?
Saturday, Jan. 7th at Boot Scooters in King, NC,
there will be some great music from 10am - 4pm.
It is a benefit for my brother and his family who lost
everything in a house fire Nov. 18th! Family friendly,
so bring the kids!
Is it just a southern thing, or does everyone
have: Collard greens, blackeyed peas, sweet
potatoes, turnips, pork, cornbread.
My mom always boiled ribs to get the broth,
then cooked potatoes and macaroni in the broth.
Make your tongue lick your brain out!
The ladies have been doing so well
laying in the nest boxes. This morning
I go out and there were 2 small eggs laying
on the coop floor, and a very small broken
egg. They were not there yesterday. Why?
Why? Why? Is there a way to prevent this?
