I purchased peeps from my local tractor supply on July 27. This one is not growing or developing. All the others have tail feathers and wing feathers, and feathers on their chest. This little girl eats and drinks and poops and tries to keep her self in the middle of her much larger sisters. But...
I was coming here to ask the same question. My 10 month old black lab mix puppy ate some oyster shell today. She seems fine, just wondering if I should be concerned.
4 yr old SLW. Her comb and wattles started looking pale a few days ago. Now for the past two days, she has been puffed up like a ball, often her eyes are closed, and she isn't moving around very much.
I don't think she has laid an egg in the last two years, I have kept her around because she...
I did a twenty minute warm soak this afternoon. So far, it has only resulted in a big stinky poop! I tried massaging her underside while she soaked. So tar her posture is the same, and she waddles from one resting spot to the next. Will soak her again tomorrow!
4 yr old red star. Two weeks of poopy butt. I have given her two warm bath/soaks trying to clean her up. She eats a little, but does not get up on the roost at night to sleep.
What do you think it is?
What else can I do to help her?
Or is it time to end her suffering?
I have a four year old red sex link. Her backside has been very poopy, and she walks slow and labored. I have soaked her in a warm tub twice, cleaned her backside but she is not improving. Now her posture seems off; tail very low, almost dragging. I have seen her eat a little. Comb and wattles...
I just let my mixed flock of 22 out of the coop. They only get locked in the coop when it is very cold, other than that, the run is locked and secure. Most of them have never seen snow and they were NOT amused! After a brief look around, the alpha roo went back inside the coop and is...
That is called a comb. Hens and Roos both have combs, although more pronounced on roos. There are also different types of combs. Try posting the picture under the forum for identifying breeds and genders. Again, I'm still a novice, but I'm leaning toward hen!
I *think* you have 2 hens but I am not certain.
It takes 21 days for a chick to develop inside an egg, and will only develop is the hen is sitting consistently on the eggs, only taking short breaks to eat, drink and poop. Temperature is crucial to egg development.
Looks like you have a good...
We made a not so successful attempt at moving her last night. I put a small crate inside the run. Made a nest of pine shavings and topped it with leaves to mimic her "hidden" nest. Then put her inside the crate. She was sitting on 3 eggs, which we also moved and added 4 more. This morning...
I understood about EEs being Mutts, but I hadn't thought of it from that perspective... maybe good momma genes in there. Thanks! I'll try moving her at night, and keeping some room temp eggs for her. Good idea! Her current location puts her at risk from "small" predators like opossum and...
I have a mixed flock of 20 hens and 3 roos, some 2 yr olds and some 1 yr olds. At night they are locked in a run/coop and during the day they free range in my fenced in yard. For months, one of my yr old EEs flies over the fence and lays her eggs in a "hidden nest". One of my 2 yr old BAs...
had my first broody earlier this spring, a Buff Orp. I gave her 5 eggs to sit on, and 2 hatched. Now I have another broody BO and 2 broody Dominiques. With 3 nest boxes for my 12 hens, each box is occupied and there's a constant traffic jam
