For anyone wondering, I am switching to my RoyalT account because this screen name just reminds me that I no longer have my goats every time I see it. :) Just an FYI
...try Cafe Rio, Bitterroot! It's delish :) I get the Pork Salad and it's to die for.
Thanks :) I like them. They're just understandably scared $***less. I think in a few days they'll be fine. I think they're just Buff ducks after looking up some pictures.
Yeah Azriel. That's how we are. A few...
Well, I have two big dogs(LGD and a property guard) and an alert dog. Nothing big comes through the yak pen. The horns are the biggest deterrent I think. We have a good horseshoe set up with the birds in the middle, so nothing really gets to them :) Cept those danged Baldies... I used to think...
Cool :) Yeah these poor ducks were trapped at 8 this morning so they're chugging the water and the Flock Raiser crumbles I put in there for him. I'm keeping them in a small area until I can make sure they're going to stick around. We have a creek right across a semi-busy country road, and that's...
Thanks :) Yeah, it's a lot different than the scovies. I know what they look like and all those colors, splash, barring, etc... but these are new territory. I also don't know the ages, so it's a little more difficult.
Hi all, I have a quad of Muscovy ducks, and I don't know much about the Mallard derived breeds. These two pairs were rescued from a pond in town by my friend who works for Parks and Rec. We figure they were purchased as ducklings and then dumped when they became inconvenient. No matter, they're...
Well, when you free range in MT, you have to not *love* your chickens. I have what's called an "Acceptable Loss" concept. I know that some will be killed by dogs, eagles, bears, coons, skunks, etc- just depending on how far from my dogs they go. I guess that I lose about 5 chickens a year...
This one?
"6+ Ameruacana Black,Lav,Black/lav splits,Blue,and some splash/split(smooth but
carries the silkied gene,NOT silkie crosses!) pure silkied AMs are in this pen,
also the splash smooth split is mating with regular AM hens also he has awesome color."
Haha yeah... well, usually they feed the babies at night, so maybe bring momma in, too? Of course, my SF doe fed her babies like 10 times a day and they were huge.
I like Lakeland, I use Rabbit Habit for NON bred/nursing animals. Rabbit Family for preg/nursing does and growing kits. Then I use...
Bitterroot- I have Marans, OEs, EEs and I'm just West of Missoula. If you want some eggs I can get you some in town sometime if you're just down the Bitterroot Valley. I forget if you're further away.
It's been chilly here, too 2-3 inches yesterday, DH plowed for some people, now it's...
Super easy- just used a big Rubbermaid (dark, not clear) tote and cut a hole in the top, used some window screen and hot glue to get them ventilation. The Dubias liked being in egg crates and needed humidity and warmth. Other than that, they were fine :)
My OE eggs are super thick coated, too so I can't candle them either. I don't want to sand off the bloom just to candle. I'll wait and see what hatches. Then I'll know "Hey, they hatched, must've been fertile" ;)
