Welcome. If I may, I would suggest getting Leghorns. They are very productive with laying, are flighty so they fare well being free ranged. They come in several varieties, and two different comb styles. My Grandad has always had them, and I have yet to see a breed match their egg production...
Its not that, I just cant afford to travel to all the county fairs. None close do anything poultry related. Its just easier for me to do the sanctioned shows.

Actually, I do. Sandy Kavanaugh is a director or something for the Brahma Club, and she lives around Richmond or Winchester. She has some nice birds, and I believe she has a few for sale right now. If youd like, I can send you her email?

I plan to attend all or most of the shows in and around KY. I only show at sanctioned ABA/APA shows, never at county fairs or the state fair. I also only have one breed, Cochin...
Is there anyone close by, that may have 2 shipping boxes, or 1 4-whole box that I could buy? I plan to order what I need Friday, but would really like to get them before then. I am in Russell Springs. Thanks.

A birds price should never be accounted to what line they are from. I dont care if THE top Silkie breeder in the country sold you those eggs, if that bird is not to standard it is not worth much. Attaching someones name to a bird for your gain is no way to sale poultry. That IMHO.

Also, if anyone is interested, I have some White Cochin Bantams in frizzle and smooth for sale. 5 adults; 2 pullets, 1 hen, and 2 cockerels. Nice birds. $50 a...
Thats the thing, we didnt get any real cold this year at all. Not to mention everything bloomed and had leaves 4-6 weeks earlier than normal. I didnt mind it, I HATE the cold and the snow. Its pretty to look at, but I dont like being stuck indoors because of the weather or temperature...

I MAY have later this Fall, but thats no gurantee. As of now I only have one Red male and one Red/White male that I am trying to find hens for. I did find a small flock that I am going to buy that are about 10 weeks old so I should have some chicks this Fall. Just get back with me around then...
There is an auction this weekend 3-10 in Casey Co. Its the produce auction but the paper says they expect lots of poultry and small animals. It is up on South Fork I believe.
