To clarify, after reading sandhills descriptions: his hollands can lay white or light...
A friend was experimenting with different breeds for a farm to table test. I bought a few extra from her: 1 penedesenca, 2 holland, and 1 mahogany Russian orloff. Pendesenca has 5th toe on both feet, 2 " hollands" are not laying WHITE eggs, aand mahogany Russian orliff is solid mahogany, no...

Hey BigZ!!!! I won't be able to this year-Megs last day of HS was today, June 4th s graduation and her party is the 10th. (Plus in the process of selling my rental property and a few things to fix per buyer request before closing-IF appraisal comes...
Hi all! Have a couple questions:
Chickenship made me a hanging waterer with the red nipples-How did you get your chickens to start using these?
Have any of you used Frontline? Did you use the spray or the drops? which strength? I have had some issues with mites lately and the Eprinex hasnt been...
Thanks to both of you! I breed Salmon Faverolles (and have a flock of variety of breeds) but have no idea with the crested. (And can't keep any more roos without building another coop-have 2 Fav roos in separate breeding coops and Lav Orp roo in main coop) I thought it looked like a girl (the...
Hi all. I breed Faverolles, and have a coop with about a dozen other breeds, but i Have never had a polish! This monring a friend stopped by after dropping off his meat birds and he had the "exotic" bird that was included in his order from Murray McMurray-a polish for me! So I need some hel...
Hi all....Anyone raise polish? I was woken up to a friend stopping by on their way back from droping off their meat birds for butchering....and they brought me the mystery "Rare" free chicken that is 2 months old. Wonder if anyone has input on male or female?
Yes the incubator worked well, however if I can I think I will stick with broody hens as much as possible LOL Felt like an expectant mom, with constantly watching temp/humidity, and with watching the newly chicks etc. then to just turn around and sell them? :-(
Had a couple with dirty butts...
BBP: LOL I couldnt do your job-They would all end up at my place! IF any turn out to be hens-well......I bet they would fit in really well over here! I seriously wanted one of the polish today.....
OMG Sally just saw your post of all the eggs you have "In Process" I would be a wreck! This hatching biz is stressful LOL broody hens are the way to go sheesh.......THen again you would have to have a huge "shmangle" of broodys to handle that many :-)
19 Faverolles hatched so far (tonight marks day 21)...they started hatching yesterday noon! Sold 2 this evening and have 11 more reserved :-) Hope the rest sell as easily!
No actually, I am using a "Mother Heater Pad" for the first time and loving it! Super easy to put together (after a ton of trial and errors) and the chicks seem so content. For the first time in forever I have only 1 broody hen and it her first time broody....so sticking with the MHP for now.
