It's hard to tell wether it's as big as what the other call babies have grown at. I feel like it's bigger for it's rough age when we found it.
None of my calls have blackish bills or feet though.. so not sure where that comes from.
The only way it's possibly one of my calls would be in a...
This is what it looked like a few days after we found it. I do have my own ducks, they are calls. However none of the calls were setting at the time this one hatched, we couldn't find any broken egg shells in the pens or nest boxes either. So we're assuming it's not one of my own as we have no...
Yeah, I'd also searched up what they were meant to look like and thought it didn't quite add up. My grandfather is convinced it is though. I dunno though.
I thought once it started developing more and getting new feathers it'd be easier to tell what it is.. it's just getting harder aha.
Yeah, that's fairenough.
My grandfather thinks it's a Pacific Black Duck as we have a few that visit us and scavenge our property for food. It's just hard to tell seeing as it's feathers at the moment just seem to be black and a whitey cream colour on the chest.
Obviously still has plenty of...
We found the baby on our property the morning after a big storm.
It was scared and very lost. None of our neighbours have any baby ducks, so we have no clue where it's come from.
we just call it the mystery duck.
Found this baby duckling maybe about 4 weeks ago.
It was lost with no mum in sight.
It's starting to change and develop more but I have no clue what sort of duck it is.
Or even if it's a local wild duck.
Just wondering if anyone here might be able to throw some educated guesses my way?
we've also had really bad stormy weather of late. So maybe it got lost and found it's way here.
no idea if it's a domestic breed or wild.. just because it looks so different to my other ducklings i'm breeding currently.
Haven't had any new hatchings for atleast 4 weeks.. so it's odd.
But i`m...
Hey guys, so this morning I found this one little baby duck roaming around the yard. No clue where he/she has come from as none of my call ducks are currently setting. The baby showed up without a mum.
It's predominately black, black beak, black legs..
Unsure whether it's one of my calls or...
So my girls have started quacking quite strongly now. There's others that either stay super quite or make very little noise at all. I`m guessing those are the boys?
Here's a few photos of how they're going. Have them in my little play pen that I chill in it with them just to help make them...
it's been almost 12 hours now since I first found him. He's also talking to me and he ran his beak across my hand and made little noises at me which I thought was super sweet. When I`ve been patting him he'll often respond with little noises. This morning he couldn`t do that at all.
I really...
been making sure he's been drinking heaps.
he can hold his head upright now without it being all limp and hanging down, laying flat on the ground or anything. He's eating and drinking on his own and can take a few steps here and there but nothing too great just yet.
He's been pooping alot...
Looked for that, no sign of one.
one of my poor game birds had one though just the other day. Luckily didn`t effect her and we got it off her pretty quick.
just moved him into his pen for while i`m out on shift.
he weakly stood up on his legs and then plopped back down.
I really hope that he'll still be okay when i get back.
He's talking to me a lot more than before, before he couldn`t even make a sound. He's getting some movement back but it's very limited still. So upsetting this morning, when i first saw him thought he was dead. I really hope he'll be okay. Thank you so much guys for the input. Means a lot, this...
