Hello!
I’m located in North Carolina, USA, and I am wanting to become NPIP certified.
I just ordered chicks and they came with NPIP certification under the hatchery.
When would I need to have a technician come out and certify my birds again?
Hi all!
I was just wondering how long MG lives in the environment without a host.
I culled all my birds back in November and have sanitized EVERYTHING. I now have baby chicks coming from Ideal, Meyer, and Cackle. I have even invested in a pair of rubber boots that I will ONLY wear at home...
Hello! I was wondering how to effectively breed lavender mottled bantam Cochins. I was thinking of starting with just black mottled and lavender stock but then I had another idea. Should I also include solid black with the lavender and black mottled stock? I’m new to genetics and would really...
I was given a cockerel and told he was a black Australorp. However, I have a couple black Australorp pullets and their legs are darker than the cockerel's. Can someone help determine what breed this cockerel is please?
Blue Ameraucana — unsure if cockerel or pullet. I'm going to go with cockerel since it does have one awkwardly long tail feather. Approximately 4 months old.
I think that I will post some more pics once the chicks get older. They're only 2 days old right now so it's hard to be sure what any of them are. I think my Sumatras could actually even be some kind of bantam.
Thank you! I think that these chicks are standards though. The smallest chicks I have are the Phoenix. I thought they were originally standards but now that I'm looking at them they're much smaller. These silver ones are actually some of the largest chicks.
(I assure you the chick pictured is alive)
I ordered the weekly rare chick assortment from Cackle Hatchery. I just picked up my chicks from the post office: 4 black Sumatras, 3 blue Sumatras, 4
Golden Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben, 3
Black Breasted Red Standard Phoenix, and then 4 of these...
My thoughts exactly. It does have a wide comb. I will take better pics when I can. Another thing that has me thinking its a cockerel is that it was chasing my turken pullet around yesterday. It was acting like it had intentions of breeding.
