Hello from New Zealand. we dont have Cochins as such but we ( well one guy mainly ) have spent the last 20 yrs trying to redevelop the breed over here & i am the proud owner of a few & im trying to breed them. i was hoping that someone here will have a copy of the standard of perfection that...
well ive been away for 2 wks & i get back & one of my pullets has laid her 1st eggs.
3 in total now i caught her laying yesterday, im soo happy. hopefully the other pullet isnt far away from starting either.
which means winter eggs..

we do have an older roo ( over 1 yr old ) who is in...
i let my week olds out into a rabbit hutch to explore & when they all curled up to sleep i brought them back inside to warm up again, i done this the first few days & now they are 3 wks old & they spend most of the day outside, if its freezing cold then i put a light in the hutch so if they get...

i have some 2wk olds atm & am waiting to see if my theory of wing feathers is correct.
eg the roos dont develop feather shafts on...
i have silver grey dorks but dont know the color of the eggs yet
im still waiting for them to start. which may not be for a while although 1 is showing signs of being close to starting but im currently at the end of our laying season.

I'll have to...
my young roo boobs has started to crow this week & one of the pullets is getting a big red comb. hopefully she will start laying soon if so winter eggs
