Wow, that chart is great.. thank u so much, you reiterated what I was already thinking from my research before I got them, but figured I should follow the breeders recommendation.. I weighed her this morning before I fed her and she is only any 16 lbs, I drastically reduced the amount of milk...
Breeder told us 20oz 3xs a day, and she sucks down every drop, usually looking for more... horse thermometer is any same size as dog one so as soon as he gets home tonight we will go take her temp.. It'll take my scale down w me to get her actual weight, but I would guess around 20 lbs.
Have to wait till hubby gets home to take temp, will a horse thermometer work? Vet doesn't have Saturday hours but yeah I could take one in Monday morning... wasn't sure if like w horses, fresh spring grass on top of already sensitive tummy could be problem..
New to goats and picked up a 3 week old doeling last weekend, we've gone back and forth with solid stools, mostly they've been soft. she is happy, energetic little girl and I want to keep her that way. Raising her w whole cows milk and after the first few days she seemed to straighten out...
long story short, because of personality conflicts btwn him and my now ex-husband, I gave a gelding that I bred to a friend back in 2003 with the understanding that if there came a time that she couldn't keep him, she would let me know.. at the time I lived 30 minutes away, but I've moved to NY...
thanks for the ideas.. I think I found a nice little drop off (almost 14 inches worth) in my other pasture that might work out well, and I'm going to go ahead and buy the basic supplies to AI her just in case... crossing my fingers and praying this works.. if not then I'll not it just isn't...
ok, so we've decided to try and get a foal out of my Arab stallion, he is a very good boy and has thrown some nice babies in the past unfortunately I don't have any of them.. he is getting up in years and I would really like a foal (future trail horse). I have a breeding lease with a very nice...
I did check for lice as my LF cochin had them, everyone was treated and I haven't seen anymore, I did check him carefully and do not see any lice on him.. I understand the lice could have made him appear ragged, but he did have regular feathers, so if not molt, could lice have have caused him...
Ok, so judging by all the missing feathers on his back and the rumpled windblown appearance I assume my little Bantam Frizzle Cochin is going thru a bad molt, he is a wild little boy and not always easy to get a hold of, so I didn't notice right away, but what on earth is going on with his wing...
Mine do the same thing, except that when they don't find anything at the front door, they usually go double check the side door too. And why do the ALL have to bark. 1 thinks it hears something and barks and the next thing you know they are all running around the house barking.. I consider it...
Love, love, love Aussies... Here is Rileah,
she is my second Aussie, while both had destinct personalities, there were certain characteristics that came thru loud and clear on both.. Super loyal, they will do anything to please you, very smart and easily trained, great with kids (you do...
Well the 30 year old horse is a bit special needs, and the 14 yr old dog has some hip issues, but those are just part of the aging process..
Beastie is my only disabled pet - he started as a barn cat, but was always trying to get into the house and was just such a lover, I'm really more a dog...

I might be able to help with hay, depending on how much you want.. I live over in Canastota, but work in North Syracuse, can always throw some in the truck or maybe the trailer.. we just put ours up and I know I have more than I need..
you learn something new every day. yesterday I learned Chickens have a mean "hit ya with a fryin pan" jealous streak : today all seems calm, of course the oldies and the youngsters are keeping their distance from each other - Charlie is getting his exercise running back and forth between the...
ok, had to share this with you guys,
Brief background. Charlie (Barred NN) is the dominant Rooster and his special girl is Curly ( 1/3 his size, but also a Barred NN) Charlie loves Curly so much that I will be looking for a hen saver apron w/ shoulder protection a bit later today.. Other...
he is gorgeous.. Khemo babies aren't just bay, I swear they are a special more brilliant shade of bay and I just love them.. oh well maybe someday, in the meantime I'll be jealous
I'm so glad you were able to come up and get him.. he is a sweetie and will be missed around here.. I can't wait to see what kind of babies you end up with
