My dog has an appetite for chicken poo. I'm not sure why. I have two dogs and I've only noticed one eating it. He doesn't eat dog poo though.
So how unhealthy is it for a dog to eat chicken poo?
extra info: my chickens are only about 2 months old, and never been dewormed. My dogs are wormed...
We have so many lizards around that when my husband shot one for fun, we decided to see if the chicks would be interested in it. They are less than a month old but loved it. They thought they were in heaven. Now, how safe is this? The pellet was taken out of the lizard so no worries there. But...
I'm talking to someone off Craigslist about buying their 2 Pekin ducks. She says they are a sexed pair and are 14 months old. Here's the ad:
"2 white pekin ducks. Donald and Daisy. She does lay eggs and are able to eat if picked and refridgraded daily. Approx 14 months old. Do not bite. Askin a...
I have an odd problem. I have 30 about 3 week old chicks. I have a coop that the door is chicken wire and wood. The rest of the coop is plywood covered, except a large chicken wire 6x2 window on one side. Maybe I can get you a picture if its needed.
So here's my problem. My chicks all sleep and...
I don't know how I grabbed the wrong bag, but I don't have any chick starter left and the new bag I bought is Egg layer. I can't make it back to a feed store for at least a week. The only other options I have other than the egg layer is some regular eggs, "garden treasure" wild bird food, and...
I have two raw fed dogs, and I'm wondering what everyone would suggest is the best animal to raise to feed them? I'm leaning towards birds, since I don't have a way to store large amounts of meat. I have no freezer.
So what bird would you suggest? Just chickens? Turkeys? Or quail? duck? guinea?
I was wondering how much land everyone free ranges on? AND, do your chickens use all of it, or do they primary stay around a small area or around the coop?
Which is worse. It's warm today and the breeze is about non existent. They are in the shade by the way. I can tell my bunnies are hot so which is better....
Let them be? or put some water on them to cool them down?
My chicks are less than a week old and many of them have almost completely lost all their fluff and now have feathered wings. Less than a week old seems young right?
Can raw fed dogs, rottweilers in particular, eat beaks? or feathers? Is it bad to give them whole birds that aren't dressed?
(We normally feed them dressed chicken from the grocery store or hamburger or any beef cut from the store.)
I ordered the rainbow layers from McMurray plus a few extras. I could use some help identifying them. (oops, I posted double pictures, I'll delete then later
What does everyone prefer? Do you free feed? I'm interested in holding back on food and making them forage for their own food (when old enough). We have about 50 acres in the Texas desert. Feeding 30 chickens seems like a steep feed bill when we have so much land.
So, free feed vs making them...
Our 30 chicks are scheduled to arrive between the 24th and the 27th. Needless to say they didn't come yesterday or today. We are getting anxious. We are expecting 26 hens, 3 roos, and 1 free chick. We ordered from McMurray.
Anyone else getting chicks this week? What did you order?
So I just got rabbits and had two succumb to the heat already
So I butchered the two and cooked one. I didn't like it. The smell was strange to me and it really did taste like chicken except every few bites I would taste/smell something that was gross to me. It smelled/tasted like the smell...
So my 30 day old chicks come this week and I'm getting all the finishing touches done right now. We use solar, and a small amount of it. There is no extra electricity to waste so I'm wondering what everyone would suggest to use for brooding. No propane or kerosene heaters, or broody hens either...
