I have several chickens. 2 of them buff orpingtons born on July 28th. At first I thought she was just puffed up because it's been cold out lately (30-40 degrees) but today I compared her to her sister and I am wondering if something is wrong. She's also acting sleepy/not active.

I have some 3 week old chicks. I know 6 weeks is acceptable to move them outside, however the temperature here in NJ is starting to drop. I am thinking that in 3 more weeks it will be 60s during the day (which is fine) but 40s at night. Is it safe to put them out in the coop (but keep them in...
Is this an australorp hen? I got her when she was 12 weeks old. She is 17 weeks old now. The lady didn't know the breed, just that she was part of a meyer hatchery special. She wasn't looking like one until recently. She has 1 white feather under each wing though.
7AM I was ringing the post office doorbell haha!
They are all alive and well. I was feeling really down because a predator got one of my Easter eggers and my wynadotte in a 5 day time frame-but these little girls are cheering me up :)
The blue orpington seemed a little shaken up but seems to...
Gertie, my old non-laying silver laced wynadotte. She was so great with the kids.
Hawk left half of her for me to clean up. Ugh!
Anyway, has anyone had luck with those owl decoys? We had them at our old house to keep the birds out of the tennis court in our backyard and it worked for that...
I added a 12 week old hen (I think?) to my flock this past week. The previous owner was not sure on the breed. She said it was part of a hatchery special.
Does she (or he) look like a black sex link (black star)?
There is very faint light brown/gold around the neck feathers and each wing has...
I bought 4 Easter eggers. My white one seems obviously pullet but the other 3 I'm sort of clueless.

I know the pictures are not so good. They are free range so it's hard to get too close.
Here are 2 chickens about 5-6 weeks old each.
I am not sure if it's too early to tell but I figured maybe someone could help me out by taking a look at the pictures of their crowns. Is there a better way to determine for this breed? I know silkies (the only other breed I've ever had) you can...
I have two questions...
For those who use the raw ACV in their flocks water, how much do you add?
Also, I like to ferment Kombucha for a long time to a vinegary flavor (I use it in my hair instead of ACV because ACV smells awful to me). Anybody use Kombucha instead of ACV?
I've given my...
This silkie is about 20-25 weeks old. The one on the right in the first picture is a 2yr old hen. I am interested to know if the other one is a roo. It's already bigger than the hen, so I am curious! Thank you for your help!!

This is trixy. She usually lays an egg a day. She is very small...not much bigger than my 9 or 10 week old black silkie/polish cross. Any idea what breed she is? A friend gave her to me.
My friend gave me a chick 2 days ago. It was the same age as a silkie chick she also gave me (around 3 weeks I think) but this one is bigger, and not a silkie (or at least not a pure breed). Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I am new to chickens. I have 4... 2 are silkies and 2 are mixed breeds I believe. The two 3 month olds were supposed to be hens, but I really feel like 1 (or maybe even both) are roosters. I am not sure if you can tell at 3 months old, but I have a pretty good shot of them comb. If anyone can...
