I simply have far too many roosters. The hens are taking quite a beating and the neighbors are none too happy either, I would guess. I am trying to avoid Craigs List so will try here. Hoobly will be my next stop.
Here are the guys:
Two bantam Americanas - Hatched July 3, 2013 from eggs I...
I am overrun with roosters and need to sell some very nice bantams. I have not had any trouble with any of these boys being aggressive. They are all really nice guys. I have one Mille Fleur, one Serama, two Araucana/Americana. They are $10 each.
I hatched these guys at my home last July...
I'll start by saying that I have read multiple threads about all of the respiratory illnesses. I know they can be carriers but I am choosing to treat rather than cull. I had an outbreak in the spring that might have been brought in by a lovely rooster that I purchased or maybe it was spread...
Hi everyone. I know you all will be able to help me with this situation. I had to attend an out- of- town funeral. I left Monday morning and returned Tues. night, which left my family in charge of the chickens. I had some 4 week old chicks in the garage which I take out during the day and...
Went to a poultry swap a couple of months ago and I see this very pretty - what I assume - is a Blue Splash Cochin rooster. Looked like one to me, anyway. I look him over, he looks healthy, I inquire about him. "Is this a Blue Splash Cochin"?, I ask. The woman says "No, he's a Blue...
I have a 4 week old chick who is about half the size of her sibs. She eats and drinks and runs around just like the rest of them. I'm using medicated feed. I have checked around the forum for advice and will now put some ACV in their water per several threads. I have used Poly-Vi -Sol...
Ugh, looks like my flock of thirty is rapidly catching this respiratory illness. Yesterday afternoon I went out to the coop to let the group out for some free ranging pleasure. One of the silkies was slow to get up and upon further inspection I noticed that her eye was swollen and she had some...
I originally put this under predators/pests but will try here. I used Adams flea/tick dip on my flock last night for mites as I have read in a number of posts here at BYC. Used as directed- 1 Tbl per gallon and then used a bit less in consecutive buckets because I was afraid it was too strong...
Warning! I used the Adams Flea/tick dip on my flock last night for mites. I used it as directed-1 Tbl per gal and a little less in consecutive buckets. Went into the coop this morning and found a dead bird. The rest aren't looking so good. They are laying around. Hope I didn't kill them...
I wasn't sure where to post this question since it's not an emergency/disease etc., but it didn't seem to fit under "Breeds/showing etc. So please direct me if this should be asked under another forum title.
OK, I have a Polish Frizzle rooster. I also have two hens from the same hatching egg...
Dang, I'm fighting mites again this summer. Last week I armed myself with 3 canisters of Sevin dust, a tarp and my mask. I layed them on the tarp, held them by the legs and dusted the heck out of them-vent, under wings, all over their back and neck, everywhere. I was so thorough. Then I...
Can't find the dosage for using Adams fleas shampoo for lice. Some say follow directions on the bottle which I think is two to one. Some say a weak solution like a capful per five gal bucket. Big difference in those dosages. Can someone set me straight? I'm out of sevin and had good luck...
I read posts on this back 10 pages worth but wanted to seek any additional advice.
Back in Jan. one of my hens, age 4, turned up with a messy butt. She is one of 39 birds. I have had this flock for 5 years and didn't do anything different over the winter. It was very wet here in MI this...
I'm having a hard time getting rid of mites. I have done the cleaning/dusting and it's time to do it again. I'm setting a fire today to provide more wood ashes. I have used the Ivermectin, too. I'm giving the Ivory soap bath a shot now with the next coop cleaning/dusting. I have read those...
As an aside to the question I just asked. I searched for this on the posts. The feed store did have Safeguard for goats-liquid. Can I use that for chickens, as well. If so, does anyone know the dosage? Thank you.
I'm ready to give my Safeguard after giving the Wazine 2 weeks ago. Everyone must be worming these days as the feed store was low on wormers. I got Safeguard paste-10%, as instructed by many here. Can that be dissolved in food or water? I know I can do the BB sized "treat". I'm sort of...
The majority of my flock is three years old and I have never wormed them. I have been looking for evidence of worms in all the gross places for the past few weeks and have not seen a single worm of any type. However, some of the girls are feeling thin to me so I think I will take the plunge...
I have some ducks that are trying to hatch. So far it has been over 24 hours and both have a hole in their egg about one inch in diameter. It appears they are starting to dry out. Looks like the humidity is about 65-%-70%. I don't want them to dry out too much and not be able to hatch...
I read this in the posts but can't find the exact one now, of course. Should have written it down. I'm treating a little bantam for a respiratory problem. I'm using Tylan 200 ORALLY. I thought the post said 1/4 cc but then I thought maybe it was 1/2 cc. Now I have myself confused...
I recently saw a cochin/mille fleur cross and thought they were beautiful. Just wondered if anyone hs crossed a silkie with a mille fluer? Would love to see pics. Wonder if you would get a fluffy bird with mille fleur markings?
