Hi there! I've got three babies that my Cochin Banty fostered which I'm trying to figure out the genders of. Here's some pics:
The larger black chick is a cochin cross and was the first to hatch. The red/brown one is a Silkie-Maran cross and was the second to hatch but is the largest and...
I've got a 5-7 month Cochin bantam hen who lives with three other standard sized hens and has come down with some sort of illness. She is sitting fluffed up and not moving much. I don't see any injuries and her breathing seems normal. No discharge anywhere, although she has a slightly runny...
I have heard of many sex-links, like golden comets, that are like crosses with rocks and RIR's and stuff. But what would you get if you crossed a RIR rooster with a barred rock hen? Would it also be a sex link, and if so, how would the boys and girls look different?
Thanks in advance for any...
I am thinking of getting a polish rooster and two polish hens. I am wondering if a 4ftx4ft coop raised 2ft off the ground with a 12ftx4ft run if a good size for this amount of birds. They will probably be standard sized.
So, I am thinking about getting a phoenix roo. I want him to have a good 3-4ft long tail, and he also must be a little friendly
What kind of coop and run would work best for growing a tail? Also, what kind of food, bedding, perches, etc. would help us out the most? Any other tips?
Thanks in...
HI! I want to show some black Silkies soon. I want to keep them clean, but I am not sure on the bathing and everything. What kind of soap do I use? How do I dry them? Do I have to brush them? Also, if you have any other tips, they will be totally appreciated!
Hello! I like to feed my hens the dried mealworm treats, but they eat them so quickly, I was wondering if I could raise mealworms to feed them. I need to know where to get them, what to feed them, and when to give them to my chickens. If anyone can help, that would be great!
Thanks--CrazyCatCulby
Hi! I have three hens...two barred rocks, Thelma and Louise, and an old English game hen, Lucy, who I got in fall-2011. They live in a 4ftx4ft coop with each their own nest boxes...however they prefer to snuggle together in the straw under their heat lamp. They have 24hr access to an 8ftx4ft...
I have two barred rock hens (standard-sized) and an old english game bantam hen (VERY pretty bird!) in a 4sqft coop with three nest boxes, and they have an 8x4ft run attached to it. It is entirely fenced in, even the top, so they are not really harassed by predators. I want to expand their home...
I would like to get some silkie hens, either as young adults or chicks. I live in southwest Michigan, Berrien County, near St. Joe, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, etc. I would accept picking them up myself, as long as it wasn't too far away, or receiving them in the mail. Any suggestions?
In southwest Michigan, we get our fair share of lake effect snow and plenty of cold. Can I install a heat lamp or something I can use inside the coop all winter? Any suggestions? Also what about heated water dishes? What are some good brands?
Ok, so my neighbor gave us his last chicken because the rest of his got killed by some woodland critter. He let it out and it ran right into our garage, so I guess were keeping it. We gave it some bread, seeds, pet grass, and water and we will get it a coop and regular food soon. It is a red...
