My two year old polish chicken has a bald head. It has been getting bald over the last year but I noticed today that it is worse than ever. Is this malting or do I have more of a problem on my hands?

10 were ordered for Monday to arrive Tuesday, they arrived on Wednesday, 9 out of 10 were in great shape but number 10 didnt make it. In the picture below the chick on the left we believe is a Plymouth Barred Rock, can anyone confirm this?

I am planning on putting sand on my coop floor. I figure I will put chicken wire under that to prevent any digging under from preditors but did any of you include any sort of drainage under the sand. My coop is on soil. Also any types of sand suggestions? Thanks.

In lower New York here (Westchester) smallish coop for e hens, coop size 4'x5'x6'high, I will have a heat lamp that will be on a thermostate, no at 35 of at 45 do I need to insulate the walls, roof and floor?
I went to home depot to purchase materials for my coop walls. My intent is to insulate the walls and after costing out framing, plywood x2 each panel it was going to cost a small fortune.
Any suggestions for cost effective walls?
I am building a coop and want to include a built in dust bath into the design.
I was wondering what people put into thier Dust Baths to keep the ladies happy and clean.
I did read something about fire ash somewher I think.
