My chickens are just now getting to egg laying age and all of a sudden I found an egg on the ground that was a little lighter than my other hen's and it was more circular but I thought my trusty hen was just not feeling well because there was no egg in the egg box. But a few days later and today...
I started about 15 eggs on the 10th but I was told the wrong temperature. My incubator has been set between 93 and 95 degrees since then. Is it too late for those eggs or will I be fine just bumping up the temp to 100 now?
I often see these tiny little chickens at livestock auction but I don't know what the actual breed name is for it. Right now I can't buy any because we don't have a spot for them, but I want to soon. Does anyone know what the actual breed name for miniature chickens are? Not just bantams but...
Question 1: Should I leave one egg in the nest box everyday so the chickens will be encouraged to lay there untill they get used to it?
Question 2: If I should, then where should I get a wooden egg or something so I can collect all the regular eggs and know that one won't get old in the box...
We recieved two orders of chicks mid to late May... my hens still have not started to lay eggs and it's December. Is that normal or should they have been laying already?
