I am looking for an East Indies drake that is show quality to add to our flock. I'm having a terrible time finding one that is show quality and not in Ohio. I can travel to Washington, Oregon, Northern CA and Idaho if needed. Any help is appreciated.
I'm pretty sure this is a blue laced red Wyandotte. can anyone make sure it is please? and I was looking online to see what varieties of Wyandotte there are and I didn't find blue laced red.... I am going to show her at the fair and is this in the APA? if it isn't I can't show her. thanks!!!
Just wondering how old a chicken has to be to be shown. Obviously they have to be old enough and all feathered in to LOOK like what breed they are, but to all you pros out there, what's the youngest you can show a pullet or cockerel?
I'm moving my birds from one place to another and I have built two hoop coops. In their old coop they had a nice big coop to go into every night and it had the sleeping roost and the nest boxes inside. In the hoop coop I plan to use milk crates for nest boxes, but I'm kind of drawing a blank as...
My chicks came and I just realized that THE DOG ate all the chick starter feed. What can I give them when I pick them up from the PO (in 15 minutes) before the feed store opens and I get a new bag of chick feed? Cooked egg yokes maybe?
Thank you for your help!!
I have a small back yard flock of mixed breeds of chickens and about a week ago a very healthy, 9 month old Barred Rock hen just hunkered down, quit eating, and then died. Now I have am Americauna hen who is doing it. They are all done molting, in perfect feather, big and strong.....then they...
I have about 22 chickens now. Much loved pets. There is a high probability that we could be moving from Washington State back to Wisconsin. I'd like to take 15 birds with me. How would one go about that? Can I put them 2 or 3 at a time into something along the line of rabbit transport...
I posted her pic on here awhile back. She was quite surely a her and now a few weeks later, she's crowing.
So is she still a her or is she a she and if she's a she then why is she crowing?
Help! I'm not allowed to have Roosters.
If you got a grown adult hen is there any way to tell how old she really is? And is it 'normal' for an old bird to start laying eggs with no shell? I have all the extra oyster shells available to them and yet I have 1 chicken who is laying eggs with no shells. I'm not sure which one it is so...
I got the eggs from a guy who said they were game bird chickens. Only 1 hatched. This is her and I have no idea what she could be. Pheasant? Chicken? Or...??
I can't get a hold of the guy who gave me the eggs. They got to me through a friend of a friend kind of thing and this guy doesn't...
I got this chicken a couple weeks ago and she's always had a crooked toe. A couple days ago I thought she looked like she was limping a little but today she is limping a lot and not standing on the foot when she is standing still. Poor girl.
I took some pictures of her feet. Maybe someone...

Well they just love it!! Is it bad for them to be rooting around in there? Our compost pile is pallets screwed together like a box with the front a little lower. We can't move it and can't move the chickens. We would have to just rake it down and not have one....so is it OK for them to have...
No, I'm not going to cull her ( wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to do that anyhow.). My question is for anyone who had dealt with a blind chickie. Will she eventually learn to eat on her own? And if so, how did you go about that? Poor little thing.
I have a chick that has taken, at this point, 24 hours to hatch. It has been moving around a lot and peeping, but it is taking SO long! I don't want to lose it because I didn't help it work its way out! At what point do you help a little?
I know they are a little bored because they won't go out in the snow, but I can't get the feather plucking to stop. I've moved birds around to try to change up the pecking order but they seem to just switch aggressors. I've heard of little glasses....what are they and how do you get them? How...
