    My silly Goose

Recently we had a goose catastrophy and a fox got into our coop and took out one of our two young geese. He left everything else except one young roo. So we were left with one goose of unknown gender. Not good. I ordered two more babies and they should be coming this week. In the mean time...

    Rooster protecting you?

I have two roosters. One Blue mix and a very pretty EE roo. The pretty roo is not a nice guy. He will come after me from behind if I am not careful. The funny thing is that my Blue will come running from where ever he is to protect me and fight off the other rooster. It is funny to see and...

    Goslings feathering out?

Hi goose people! I have 4 week old African goslings and they are loosing the fuzz on their backs but I don't see any feathers yet. Is this a normal part of feathering out or is there something wrong? They seem otherwise healthy and active. These are the first goslings I have raised.

Getting geese in the spring, housing?

So I am getting a trio of African geese in the spring. I want to build them something like a dog house type building I think? I want them to free range but also to be able to lock them up when visitors are expected. I don't know what size building they need? Should I brood them in there so...

    Moving with chickens, fun times!

I had to move to a different house at the beginning of May. It wasn't that far away and I intended to move my shed coop with me. Well that didn't work out and the poor chickens were semi homeless, free ranging from dog crates, and of course it was raining so I had to get tarps, which of course...

    Sex 12 week old Penedesencas?

OK this one is a for sure crowing roo: But I can't decide if this one is a slower developing roo or a pullet: These are a large comb breed on both sexes so I am not sure if I can go by that. I want to rehome these so I would really like to know what they are. We are not too fond of this...

    Pics of my silkies

They are 7 months old now and such cuties. I am not good at this picture thing but I am going to try. This is Buster, who is actually a hen. We thought for the longest time that she was a he. She was Buster because she went around helping the other chicks bust out of their eggs when they...

    Crowing in Silkie Roo?

The one silkie I have that is obviously a Roo is 5 months old and has been crowing for a few weeks. His crowing is not very loud, will he get louder as he gets older? Also the crowing rooster is the poorest quality silkie we have, the only one that has no vault. Do the vaultless silkies tend...

    Eggbound?

I have a seven month old Redstar pullet who had never layed an egg. The day before yesterday we had an extra egg so I guess it was her but we are not 100 percent sure because there is another pullet not started yet. Our Redstar, Julia, has been listless for about three days. She eats a little...
