I have two hens that decided in this last week that they don't like people. We hatched them and raised them, and they were skittish for awhile, but had finally come out of that teen stage. We could feed them by hand, they would sit still to be pet or picked up...very docile! All of a sudden...
Lol....on any other forum, you'd almost be able to hear the gasps.....
I think they really like him!!
The chicks discovered a hole in the side of the box....it's provided countless hours of entertainment for us AND the chicks!!!
That's it for now. They're lucky they're so cute, otherwise...
I have a feeling that this was the "Hatch of the Roos". Of 5 BB/barred rocks I hatched, 4 are roos. Since they were sex-linked, I could tell right away. The rest of my chickies isn't so easy. I don't know if you can even tell yet (being only a month old), but I thought I'd ask all you pros out...
Here's my EE chicks (from halo)....they're 6 days old now and doing great! They are by far the calmest chicks in the group (also have BOs, RIR, b/b/barred rocks)....such sweet little personalities! And the prettiest, I might add...such beautiful color mixes! I was wondering if anybody has had...
Sweet Lord on High, they're CHEEPING!!! One has a pip!! I little tiny crack....but it's a pip!!! I can't contain my excitement...my dogs and my husband think I've gone off the deep end!! Today is.....well....tomorrow at noon they will have been in incubation for a full 20 days. I can't believe...
Sorry...I need to vent. I am so excited about my chicks hatching on the 30th, and I am getting nothing but GRIEF from my husband and just about everyone else I know. The constant barrage of "WHY do you want chickens?" and "They're gonna STINK, nobody will want to come over to your house!" and...
I currently have 21 eggs in my incubator. I candled last night at day 8 (well, 7 1/2 days technically)....found 2 that were clear and pitched them. The others seem to have pretty big air cells...almost too big in comparison to candling pics I've seen. I'm worried that I've been running my...
Okay, this may be common knowledge for veteran hatchers, but completely new to me, so forgive me if this ends up being a "Here's your Sign" post.....
I have an LG forced air incubator with turner. I placed my eggs on Jan. 9th in the bator, and, as per LG instruction, I removed one of the vent...
I have some eggs with dirt on them....am I compromising them by washing them, or would it be better to wash than introduce possible bacteria to the incubator? Thanks in advance!
Katie
Hi to all! I'm new to hatching eggs, hopefully getting eggs toward the end of the month from halo (Kathy---yes, her beautiful blue/barred crosses!). My uncle gave me an LG w/fan and turner kit for Christmas (isn't he AWESOME??!!) so I figured I should fire it up to make sure everything worked...
