I bought what I was told are a pair of Rosy Bourke Parakeets at a swap a year ago. I was told they were young, 3-6 mos at that time. They are in a very roomy cage (huge for a parakeet) with a divider, 6 feet wide x 2.5 feet deep x 4 feet high. They have toys, pine shaving for their flooring...
I have two Rosey Bourke parakeets. I was told they were a pair. (I plan to send away for a feather DNA test). Assuming they are a pair, how do I get them to start nesting? I haven't seen any egg laying sofar. One bird (I think is the male) is flying a lot and the one I think is female...
Does anyone know what the dosage/mix would be when using a sprayer with the cattle Ivermectin pour-on liquid for a coop cleaning? I can't seem to find a thread with the info...
BTW, guess what I'm going to be doing this weekend?
Up for your consideration is 9+ (probably 12) Mottled Java eggs. I say 9 because my hens just got done being broody so I dont want to promise more, but theyve been laying great this week. I don't hold back on eggs - I've been known to "give away the farm" so to speak In addition to the 9+...
Hi, I'm new to geese. I bought a pair of what I'm told are American Buff geese from a friend of mine. They are the absolute sweetest geese ever. Anyway, the female started laying about 2-3 weeks ago. She kind of rolled the eggs around, then gathered them in the nest, then one day would sit...
I think my blue cochin roo may be getting a little jiggy with my Mottled Houdan hen. Does anyone have a photo they can post of this kind of cross? I'm curious.....
Thanks!
I know I don't post much, but I really enjoy this site and all the wonderful people on here. I've learned so much and met so many nice people.
But, I'm wondering - whyyyyy do some people think that an auction is the proper form to critisize the Seller's birds? If you don't like the comb...
I recently got a beautiful pair of buff geese (boy and girl). The boy is currently 'dancing' for the female - flapping his wings and squawking. Very cute. They are currently in with the chickens. If the female starts laying (which I'm told happens in the fall), would her eggs be pure goose...
Wanted - SQ Black Silkie Eggs or a top-notch, super duper black silkie roo.

Is there any way to 'unsubscribe' to multiple threads all at once? It's a pain having to open the thread, click unsubscribe, get out, go back to the Index and click "View your subscribed messsages" again, and go to the next message and do the same thing........
I'd love to have this...
I have tried to find answers on the board, but there are sooo many posts in general about silkies and showgirls, I can't narrow it down to find my answer. I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times, so I hope you don't mind answering for me here? I am sooo new to silkies and showgirls...
Okay, I just have to vent. Feel free to chime in!
My pet peeve? When people list birds for sale and say, "Go to my website for pictures" and the website links don't work, or they don't post any pics of their birds. Do they reallllly expect to sell them? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, a reallly stupid question.....
do Silkies squat like other hens when they're ready to lay? I'm waiting to tell what sex they are...it's maddening! They should be ready to lay soon from what I've read on here...IF they're hens that is!
If you're breeding a non-cochin bird to a cochin bird and want to improve on the tail cushion, does it matter if you breed back to a roo with a good cushion or a hen?
Edited to change my terminology! I guess it's obvious I'm still learning
I'm on day 5 in the bator...my humidity keeps dropping, not sure why. (This isn't my first hatch and I keep monitoring the humidity - I can get it up, but after a few hours it drops again. It is kind of dry here this week though).
Can I move some of the eggs from the bator to the broody at...
Does anyone know if Java's need higher humidity? If so, what's the ideal readings for prior to, and after day 18? (I'm using an $8 Wal-Mart "Acurite" Hygrometer/Thermometer and it's awesome).
Thanks in advance!
