This is how I introduce new chickens to my old flock. I have been using this method for many years with great success. The photos will tell the story.
I have made this small enclosure inside my chicken run where I place food and water for the new baby chickens. On the one side, close to the...
Hi Folks
I thought of sharing the following photos and story with you.
We are living on a grain farm in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Often wild birds would make their nests in the grain fields but unfortunately this leaves them vunrable come harvest time. About two weeks ago...
Dear BYC Members.
As a result of a faulty thermometer I have overheated the eggs in my incubator up to 41C (106F) during the first 8 days. The problem has been corrected but is it too late now?
We also have regular power outages which results in the temprature dropping as low as 27C (80F)...

In order to minimize wastage I control the flow of the food by widening or...
I made this automated watering bucket for my flock and it works well. I fitted a float valve into this 25 Lt bucket that I cut open. I then connect the bucket to a hosepipe in my coop. It was easy and cheap to make. The photos speaks for itself.

Hi All.
My Buff Orpington pullet (6 months old) has black spots on her comb, shakes her head and since this morning also seems to yawn/gulp. All my chickens have been inoculated against pox and Newcastle disease. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment?
