I see a lot of recommendations for Sevin Dust for mites and lice. What about Sevin Spray? I see it has the same active ingredient, but I was wondering if the liquid form has any ill effects.
Please let me know right away.
Thanks.
How long can a broody stay off the clutch before they go bad? It is 89 degrees outside right now.
She gets off in the morning to go eat and drink. Goes back. Gets off and meanders around. Goes back. Another broody seems to take her shifts but sometimes they both get off.
Any advice?
I have hatched my first chicks. I feel very accomplished.
How long after they hatch do they need food and water? When I ordered their parents last year, they lived for three days in a box with no water or food.
I recently got a year old RIR rooster. He seemed to be fine the first couple of days. Last night my girlfriend noticed that he was breathing like he had a cold. You could hear fluid in his lungs.
This morning I noticed that he wasn't acting right. Upon closer examination, one of his eyes is...
I introduced some very young Black Austrolorp pullets to my flock, five of them, last night. This morning, my red comet hen is picking at them. It is not so violent as roosters fighting, but she runs them around the coop and picks at them.
Will this behavior work itself out?
Old enough to lay, old enough to brood?
My buff silkie hen laid her first egg today. Confirming that she is indeed a hen, I put her and a buff silkie rooster in a large cage together to use as a breeding pair. Should she start setting as soon as she has laid a clutch (and how many is a clutch?)...
How do you all think a white silkie rooster would do against a Mexican fighting cock?
But seriously. My two big male silkies started going at it today for some reason. It looked like two Ompa Loompas fighting, but still I don't want that. They blooded each other's heads up pretty good before...
My two big male silkies started going at it today for some reason. Neither one of them would back down. Finally I think they just got tired and said the heck with it. But they did pluck each other's heads pretty good. Both of them have a swollen comb and I think it looks worse than it is because...
Anyone have any pics or any first hand knowledge of the famed Los Angeles Freeway Chickens?

I went out to this coop this morning to feed, water, and check for eggs, and I noticed that one of my three month old silkies was just laying there. He didn't jump up and come for food.
I looked at him and he couldn't hold his head right. He was all off balance and it looked like his head was...
How long after a rooster mates with a hen is that hen capable of producing fertile eggs?
In other words, how often does the rooster need to mate with the hen if they are keep seperate?

Hello and this is my first post. If it has been answered elsewhere, then please direct me.
My Easter Egger hen just started laying eggs. Thus far she has laid three. Whereas the roosters have free reign of her, I am going to assume that she is fertile. If not, then it ain't for lack of them...
