    MARYLAND Chicken Registration

The past few years we have been asked to register our flocks in MD for our own health safety and the prevention of disease, now (like gun laws) we find the real reason for registration.. The democrats have introduced a bill to tax every owner for every chicken they own. Not enough details but...

    EGGS!

Started getting duck eggs day before yesterday, getting one a day. I'm fairly confident they are muscovy eggs as they are just slightly larger than chicken eggs, about 70 - 76 grams, where Pekin eggs are generally mid 80 grams. I THIN I can tell the difference between chicken and duck eggs...

    Just adopted Muscovies..

I have/had both Pekins and Khakis, and they stayed on the ground. Neither would walk up the ramp into the coop, and even slept on the bare ground. Two weekends ago I adopted 4 female muscovy.. I've seen a Muscovy on a roost, and tonight 3 of 4 are in the coop with the chickens. Can I expect...

    Found inside an egg

Cracked an egg into the frying pan and found a hard white long substance.. maybe an inch to an inch and 1/2, long flat on end round on the other. Other than that egg looked normal. Orange yolks, clear whites.

    Brought new chickens home...

Brought six new chickens home, 2 silkies, 2 Amercaunas and 2 smaller birds but they haven't been welcomed very well. The two groups were separate all day on different sides of a fairly large run.. original birds were 2 Leggorns, a Buff Orpingtom and a Rock. The leghorns have been especially...

Had all my eggs (chicken and duck) in the same incubator.. the Khakis were on the first couple of hours the rest (to include some Pekin) their second day. I noticed the temp was low, slightly below 99 and I turned the knob no more than 1/8th of a turn (estimated) but turned it as little as I...
