My EE seems to be sick :( She's not acting normal - she walks suuuper slowly and just generally is SLOW. She like lets me pet her and stuff (she usually doesn't really) and doesn't run... at all. She is usually very lively and energetic... I'm really nervous about her! Any advice??
Hello :-) So, lately I've been noticing quite a few of my eggs have had "rings" around them. Like there's this one section of the egg that goes all the way around, that's fatter than the rest of the egg... does that make sense? Anyways, I was wondering if it's something wrong with their feed...
Hello :) I have a white Silkie hen. I had noticed for a while, her "afro" (all the fuzz on her forehead/top of her head) looked kind of "dirty." But, today, when I went into the coop, it was almost all gone!!! The poor thing :( You can see her blue skin, and where the fuzz SHOULD be...

Hi - does anyone have any ideas on how to save money on chicken feed? I only have 10 chickens, but I'm starting to go through about one bag of feed a week! They are all hens and lay quite a few eggs, but still - I think it's kind of getting expensive. Any ideas appreciated!!
Hello - I am consistently seeing red spots in my eggs. Is this normal or do I need to be concerned? What can I do to avoid this because its a little disturbing?
Thanks :)
Hi- my White Silkie Bantam (about 2 years old) doesn't seem quite right. It's been going on for a long time, but now that I'm adding more chicks to the flock I want to make sure she doesn't spread it, if she is sick. She seems to walk backwards with her head down really often... and her breast...
I'm getting another batch of chicks soon, and I want to give them treats. I give my chickens treats, but I don't know what treats can chicks have? Thanks
Hi! So I have a whole bunch of oak shavings... Is it OK to use them in the coop for bedding? They don't have an paint/stain... I know pine is OK, but I don't know about oak... they're pretty dry for the most part too, so I'm not worried about mold or anything like that. Thanks :-)
