Our special needs baby, "Daffy" and a question about their oil, we need a lil help please!!!

This is our "special" child...She is a pure Pekin with 2 crests but born unable to stand, not due to leg issues, some type of balance issue as everything works fine... Because everything worked we kept her and tried to work with her and of course, fell in love, how can you not after looking in...

Is there a 'rule of thumb' for how long a 'dose' fertilizes eggs?

Trying to keep it family friendly, once a roo mates a hen, how many eggs will that fertilize? For example, a week's worth? Does it vary with bird?(I'm guessing yes) I'm asking about Polish, Silkies and Sultans in general if one is dramatically different, but a rule of thumb would be nice...Thank...

This falls into the too cute behavior catagory

We've been raising a pair of golden sebrights, Bonnie and Clyde, in the house since the beginning of last winter, well, the weather broke and we built them a brand new coop. As soon as we do this, Clyde becomes afflicted and can't walk but the weather's been too nice so we put Bonnie in coop and...

Sebright hip/leg problem, can no longer walk

This is about a 1.5-2yr old Sebright... This has been something that came on slowly, first we didn't notice because he had a hurt foot for some time and we focused on that and thought it was the cause of his inability to walk properly...Once the foot healed we noticed he wasn't right and we...

egg laying question, duck or chicken?

First, we don't have 'egg layers' per se, but we want all of ours laying as many as possible as we incubate and sell the chicks, but none are exclusively egg layers... Second, one of our duck flocks consists of 5 males and 12 females(5 pekins, the rest runners/mixes) which give us 9 XTRA large...

We need some ideas on a sling for injured bird

We have a sebright, tiny bird, with a hurt leg and we want to put him in "traction" so it can heal...We've made slings before but they were always sloppy and half assed, anyone have a quick easy method?!?! Would a saddle work that could be suspended? I've seen a couple that accomodate a leash...

    NAPTIME!!!!!!

I walked around the corner to play with the babies for a few and stopped in my tracks, every one of them were laying around...My first thought was it looked like 'naptime' at a nursery! Just thought it was so cute(we're chick addicts so we're easier than avg), I wanted to share it...

Can too many mealworms cause a problem with too much protein?

Can they get too much protein, is that a real problem?...We checked a lethargic chicken's poop against a chart of poops and the closest thing was too much protein and we could only think of the handfuls of worms and bananas they eat...

Try as we might, we still lose one........

We believe we actually have the right setup to avoid predators, but only one part not fully implemented and it cost us a beautiful white silkie about 30mins ago to a hawk. We bought fencing a predator can't get thru, aviary netting they can't fly thru and a great pyranees they can't run...
