They are roughly 2 1/2 weeks old, and the other day i started giving them bits of lettuce, they love it. I haven't noticed anything different in their poop or behaviour, are they ok without the grit?
Btw, how fast do ducks grow?! I swear they've doubled (if not tripled) in size already!
They...
I have 4 baby mallards in a brooder, and besides giving them a bath each afternoon and letting them swim around in a tub, thats about it. They cant doo much in the brooder, except waddle around. Any ideas on how to keep them entertained and happy?
This thread will be my hatching thread, where i'll post pictures and updates about my duck egg hatch (which starts today). Enjoy the photos to come, and wish me luck
Big thanks to Ridgerunner for helping me out
As you can see, we already have a few that have pipped
I received the eggs (Mallard Eggs) in the mail on October the 2nd, so they were not supposed to go into lockdown until later today. However, when I woke up (10 minutes ago) and checked on the eggs, I found that 2 had already piped. There wasn't holes or anything, put cracks in the shell. I...
Do you need to change the temperatures at all during the hatch? I know you need to raise the humidity to 70% but im not sure if you mess with the temperature or not. How long does it take before you usually start to see one of them pip?
Plus, I know they dont all hatch at the same time. What...

I did mark the air sacs on the outside of the eggs.
All of them were about the size of this one, probably 1/4-1/3 of the egg.
All except for this one, which was smaller.
Will the...

Today was the Day 15 (Week 2) candling. In my last update, 5/7 of the eggs were fertile, but I left the 2 bad eggs in there just in case they were late bloomers.
Got really good results in this candling, all 5 of the fertile eggs still had living embryos in them, and some of them were even...
Today, I candled my Mallard Eggs for the first time. It is day 8 of their incubation. Now I am no expert on this, so if I anything is wrong, or you have any tips or comments, please post them below and enjoy the photos Sorry if it's hard to see the development, I used a cell phone light for the...
I've been on the site for a few days, but haven't made an introduction yet because I needed some questions answered. My name is Austin, I'm 17 and living in NC. I am currently incubating 7 mallard ducks eggs (and will raise them when they hatch). This is my first time ever doing ANYTHING with...
I am currently incubating 7 mallard eggs (on day 4). I've kept the humidity at or close to 50%, and the temps at 99.5°. I'm using a still air incubator. Could someone please explain to me what lockdown is, and what I should do when that stage approachs? Btw, the first candling is Thursday, so...
I am going to be incubating 5 mallard eggs soon and I have few questions (this is my first time incubating eggs)

2. What should the humidity be for mallard eggs?
3. How often should I turn them?
4. The incubator I am using will have them upright...
