I am looking for any info on Baikal Teal, as well as where to get a pair or two... I've read some pretty general stuff so far. Hardy birds, but hard to get to reproduce. Do they breed their first year? etc... Any help would be very appreciated!

They are supposed to keep their plumage year round, and they are from the southern hemisphere, but do they go through a molt like others? And is it during the same time as the rest do? Just curious, mine haven't molted or anything, but I wanna kow a bit more about the plumage aspect of these...
I have a trio in a pen thats 14'X24' with some other ducks: wild, migratory calm ducks... They all get along great, but my question is, will the hen quail go broody and raise their own? Or are they all different and you never know? I haven't heard of quail rasing their own in captivity, but I...
Future duck hunter?! His room is done all in ducks with cattails painted on the walls! Taxidermy bill went up to decorate his room! 6 lbs 13 oz, 21 inches long. Happy and healthy! Carter, and he is our first... He doesn't stand a chance, duck hunting and airboats will be his life!

Here are some pics I took today of my bird pen!
My mandarins by their pond and nest box!
My Chukar, Z, just cruising around!
My mandarins on the upper pond!
This the new pen... Its 14'X16' or 17'. I haven't measured it yet. The grass is just barely coming up. Hope my birds can keep up...
Are there any quail that will regularly set their own eggs? I haven't heard of quail, or chukar for that matter, that will set on and hatch their own eggs... They have to do it in the wild, but are there any from breeders that will do the same?
Post your duck pen picks and a few specs about it and what you keep in it, its a new sticky! Would love to see the different designs we have out there!
This my wood duck, Mandarin pen that isn't quite done, but done enough to put a pair of Mandarins in. I came across a good deal yesterday so had to go get them! The pond is close, a few more days and it'll be ready to fill up! I still have a few odds and ends to do, but it'll keep birds in! I'm...
I vote we get a new sticky! One with pics of pens, what is housed in them, and general construction of the pens. That way we can have ideas and reference pics at our fingertips without having to search for them. That and we don't have to have a new "post up pics of your pens!" topic whenever...
I have a bunch of bad hay, moldy, wet and such. If I spread it in the pen, will the ducks get sick from it? I know chickens don't... Had em and tried it, they got a long just fine and loved to dig through it. Just wonderin about ducks!
I am in the process of building a pen with the intent of having wood ducks and mandarins. I would like to see pics of your pens and if you have any suggestions, pointers on what to make sure I have, I'd love to hear them! I'm new to raising ducks and I am so excited! The pen is 14'X23'. Thanks...
I am going to have a pen that is 14'X30'... So 420 sq. ft. I've read that a duck requires a minimum 50 sq. ft for an outdoor pen...
So my question is, in that size of a pen with 8-9 ducks, what can I plant that will keep up with the ducks? My elevation is 4k ft and it gets cold here in Utah...
