Hi everyone,
I’m looking to incubate at 7,500 ft here in New Mexico. I was wondering if anyone else here is a high altitude/ dry air hatcher, what incubator they use, and what tips they have!
So far, I’ve heard that still air incubators work best for low humidity areas.
Oh and one other thing to...
I picked this little wee lady out of an assortment of chicks at my local feed store. They couldn’t tell me her breed and they had no invoices to let me know what she might be! She was the only one that looked like this and is pretty small so I’m guessing she’s a bantam (no other bantams in the...
I have an excellent quailty white Showgirl rooster. He's about 9 months old with white feathers that have buff coloring at the tips. He has excellent skin coloring, no red leakage, and full silkie feathering. He can be bred with silkies or turkens to produce showgirls.
We're letting him go...
my favorite hen got attacked by a opossum 2 nights ago. It got her by the wing and body and the bone on the wing is exposed. We got her right away and flushed the wounds with peroxide, irrigated them to get the debris out, rubbed betadine on them and finished off with triple antibiotic cream...
Ok, I know lots has been posted here about eye problems but I was wondering if anyone could help me with my chicken’s eye problem!
One week ago, my smallest hen started to go a little quiet.
4 days ago her left eye shut.
Eye is still shut with the same symptoms since it closed:
No swelling
No...

This is Miss B, she is a 2 year old Barred Rock hen that is looking for a new home! She is my mother-in-law's hen and while she loves Miss B, she is having a hard time looking after 3 hens and would like to go down to just 2. Miss B is still laying and just went through...
About my Serama's:
Their mother is a black laced and their father a black white yellow dappled wheaten color way.
Both are pet quality and are C class Serama. However, with every batch of hatchlings, there are many different sizes. Their father is a sweetie who has never charged at me or pecked...
I have a sweet serama rooster that was attacked by a huge cat about 2 weeks ago. He had puncture wounds under both wounds that unfortunately got infected. After a week of antibiotics, the infection has cleared up and his wounds are healing.
His personality seems to have changed a lot. He won't...
I'm looking for some salmon faverolle pullets to buy. I live in Amerillo Texas and would be willing to drive a ways for them or pay for shipping. I am not looking for hatchery stock, I would like large, pale colored, and fluffy Faverolles! Thanks!
Hello everyone,
On Thursday morning a huge tom cat grabbed my serama rooster Rex and ripped out a ton of feathers and left him with cuts under both wings. We chased the cat off, caught a very frightened Rex and brought him in.
I've been caring for him the past few days. I cleaned his wounds...
One of my hens seems to developed a hard lump between two of her toes. Here's a photo of it:
There is no swelling to the pad underneath or the infection 'plug'
I don't want to just cut into her foot if I don't have to, but I will of course if it is bumblefoot.
Any help is appreciated!
I'm planning on building a small coolerbator to hatch some Serama eggs and PolishXserama mixes from my flock. Not looking to hatch a ton of eggs and my cooler won't be huge, but I would like to splurge on an automatic egg turner.
Does anyone know of a stand alone egg turner that is smaller then...
Ok, we all know you need a roo of you want to have baby chicks, but many people think roosters should be destined to the stew pot if they're not going to breed. But here are some unusual reasons why they make a wonderful edition to any flock!

A good rooster will care and tend to his...
I have a lovely Serama pair that have grown up together. They are about 6 months old and the hen just started laying.
About 2 months ago, the hen went crazy in the night and ripped out almost all of the poor rooster's tail feathers ( he was left with 3). When I ran out to see what had happened...
Anyone who has some advise on this issue, that would be great. We have a white crested black polish hen that will not go in the coop. We have caught her and put her in there, but most of the time she will fly 10ft to nest in a tree!
It was fine in summer, but last night she got pelted by a hail...
