Hi, I hatched these guys June 29th. I was trying to feather sex them and thought they were probably both males. Since then I've looked at new hatches and the females are much more obvious on my 'mixed' chicks.
Here are the day old pics. I'll post todays pics later (still not sure of sexes)...
I haven't posted for quite a while. I have about 40 guinea fowl . Most have been hatched out by their mom or me. They have been healthy and trouble free for years. They're free range.
Today I noticed this one has horrible foot problems. I have no idea her age but she's free range and they don't...
I had a guy come and buy guineas from me - He asked if I had seen a feather with a heart. He has fifty guineas and said they're hard to find. He makes jewelry out of guinea feathers. Since he left I look for hearts every morning - Here is one of my best (not nearly as good as his, but you can...
I got six eggs on ebay from Katharina. I was really worried because they had detached air cells. One quit early on and the rest started hatching today.
I have four hatched and one with a pip with its bill sticking out. I'm so happy to have them. So here's my question, can you tell the sex by...
I know it's been talked about a lot on here and somewhere there was a diagram on how to tape a goose with angel wing (maybe it was on the duck board). But now I need it and can't find it. The goose is a White Chinese hatched March 13 and it is its left wing. I haven't seen it yet because it left...
Today is day 26 - I thought it was day 29 until I just looked it up. I have white Chinese that were set on the 8th of Feb. This morning one had a little 1/4 inch line that looked like a pip. When I would shine a light on it it would wiggle. We left for about four hours and now it doesn't wiggle...
I think I could be the poster girl for not letting your birds do whatever they want. My goose was broody for a long time so I ordered her a pair of goslings (she's a lone goose so her eggs weren't going to hatch).
Meanwhile a couple of ducks went broody together and shared a nest next to her...
I really don't know what sex my muscovys are but they all look the same to me. The lightest is a little bigger, but not like I've heard they are when they're a different sex. I'm really bad at this. They are three months old. I don't know what I'll do if they're all boys.
We knew her eggs were due to hatch soon, so when she left the nest today I looked and saw about six with cracks. Later when I peeked at her she had a little one.
I got four test eggs from on March first and wasn't sure when they would hatch (or if) because of a finicky Muscovy mom. I finally took them away from her and put them in an incubator because she left them twice and they were completely cold when I got home. I was so surprised when one hatched...
I got this wonderful muscovy from a teacher who hatched her out last spring. After looking at the other pictures of muscovys on this site their tails are long and low. Is she a mix? Do you think she has a problem?
Ok - I don't know whether this is going tof work, but I'm trying to post a picture and I'm feeling real OLD. If it goofs up I know you will all be real nice about it.
Some of these chicks are sooo cute (well all of them are but some more so.) They were already pipping when I went to lock them...
I set these eggs on a Saturday kind of late so I was going to lock down today but I heard pretty loud peeping from one of the incubators. The humidity is way too low for lockdown and at first I thought it was just one egg, but it's at least three.
I really need advice on what to do now. Two...
The lady who sold me my eggs said BCM's need low humidity but I've heard it both ways. I read the learning center about dry hatches and his average is 50% humidity. I'm in San Diego and I have trouble getting it to 45%. Guess my question is how low is low for BCM's.
My Cuckoo Marans egg hatched out a pure white chick. What will her genetics be like? Will she lay dark brown eggs like the one she hatched from or is she a complete throwback to some sort of white chicken?
