    Im thinking snakes?

I noticed a few holes in my yard 2 weeks ago and thought maybe some kind of snake. I've now seen 2 holes in the chicken run. They were a pretty good size and deep. I haven't seen any snakes but I'm not sure what else it could be. What is the best thing to do? I filled the first one but not sure...

    Finally found the eggs!

For the last 3 days I've only gotten 1-3 eggs a day. It was very odd for having 7 layers. Well today I moved some hay and found a nest of 8 eggs. One was still warm from this morning. 1 was broken and the rest were fine but a little wet from the broken one. I'm washing them now but wondering if...

My husband fed my chickens flowers

I walked into the coop today and saw that my husband had fed my chickens GLADIOLI (I think that's what they are called) they are on a long stem with flowers going up them. I can't seem to get a solid answer if these are bad for chickens and if so, what I should do next! I'm really hoping someone...

    Please help. Chicken acting sick

I have a chicken who just wants to lay down. She seems sad and just not herself. While all the other chickens were roaming the yarn tonight she was just perched in a corner. Her tail feathers seem down. Could this be egg bound? I'm not possitive if she laid an egg today.

    Limping

I have a 10 week old rooster who has a limp. He walks slowly on it pretty well but stands like a flamingo when not moving. It was very muddy yesterday and I think he might have just slipped. On of my hens did something similar last year and was fine in a few days. The other 4 aren't picking on...

    Hawk troubles

I have 2-3 week old chicks. A few hours a day I let them outside in a baby pen. I stay around or sit on the porch. I originally had half of it covered with a black tarp and then a bin inside tipped over so they have some other shelter and a warm place to nap. Well a few day ago when I was on the...

New chicks and one with a hurt leg

Hi all! I got 6 new chickens this week. Today one hurt her leg. Just a little limp I'm pretty sure from trying to jump out of the box. Should I serperate her from the other to heal? I know with older chickens they can pick on a hurt one but not sure about baby chicks. Any advice would be great!

    Don't know what's wrong

So about 2-3 weeks ago I posted how one of my hens hurt her leg. It was fine in 2 days and she was acting back to normal except she wasn't laying eggs. Now 3 weeks later and still no eggs. Well maybe one but I'm still not sure that was hers. Today she just doesn't seem herself. She is moving...

    Limping chicken

Tonight when I let the girls out, I noticed one limping. Not a terrible limp but when she tries to run I can really tell. I think she may have hurt is jumping off the tiny coop that some of the other chickens like to sit on. Is there anything I should do? She is my favorite and don't want...

    Still no eggs!

My 4 chickens range in age from 20-22 weeks. My red sex link has been showing signs of laying for a few weeks. Just recently one of of buffs has gotten a nice dark comb and waffle. She is also doing the chicken squat sometimes so I think she might be getting close. The other 2 still aren't...

    Outside run big enough?

After losing two of our chickens yesterday to a coyote, we are getting a large, safe run built next week! Right now they have a small run that they are growing out of. We are using an old metal shed for the coop. It's about 6x15 and 8 ft tall. It nice and big and the chicken have so much room...

It happened :( something attacked them

We let the chickens free range next to the house this afternoon and something attacked them. It was horrible. I have no idea what it even was! I went out to get them again and one was gone and the other injured to where it couldn't be saved. I feel so sick. Right next to the house too! I guess...

I was told this one was a red sex link. It has grown much much faster then my other chickens. Anyone want to guess rooster or hen? Does it look like a sex link?

Bald spot on chicks neck and a little lump

I noticed a baldish spot on my black chicks neck when we brought him home. It has gotten a little worse and under it is kind of a lump. Any idea what this could be? I took the picture myself but when my husband comes home I can get a better picture.

First time posting. Which chicks are which?

Hi! We got our baby chicks yesterday. 2 pullets, 2 buff Orpington and 2 Dixie rainbow. I didn't get to actually pick them out so I'm not sure which is which. There are 2 golden ones, 2 golden with a brownish section on their back, 1 black and 1 golden with black and brown stripes/dots. I think...
