I have three, two cochins and one silkie. The two cochins are at that age when they are about to lay. I put a roost in their coop and they refuse to use it. They prefer to sleep on the ground. I was wondering what would happen if they don't roost. Thank you.
My silkie will stand by me, peck my fingers for treats, and comes up to me but when I touch him/her she/he does a panic chirp and runs away. Anyone know why? I had him/her since she/he was two weeks old.
I'm almost positive my one month Silkie is a cockerel by how he behaves. I heard somewhere that Silkie roosters are really aggressive, I was wondering if that's true. I know it's way to early to tell but I wanted you to see him.
My giant and Silkie would eat about anything but my regular Cochin only eats crickets, German cockroaches, her feed, and rarely mealworms. I was wondering if anyone else has a picky eater on their hands?
My pullets found a spot with German cockroaches trapped in webs, I don't know if it's dangerous or not for them to swallow the webs. Two are Cochins that are three months and one is a one month Silkie.
When my pullets start laying eggs (they haven't yet, they're only two months old) but when they do get a lot older and start laying should I feed just layer feed or mixed the starter and layer? Thanks!
She's a tiny little girl with a tiny beak. So is she digging in her food bowl to find small pieces? She pecks, eats, then digs again! Should I crush the starter for her? Or is this normal?
I wanted to know the difference between the two breeds. The yellow one is the Giant and the black one is the regular one. The regular one is bigger than the Giant breed and they're the same age. (I apologize if this is the wrong forum to ask this question)
He/she is a around a month old, doesn't have a comb yet, no spurs, unlike my yellow Cochin he/she completely ignores the new Silkie chick, docile, lays down more then my yellow Cochin, pecks my clothes and determined to peck my face (which I have learned not to let near my face), he/she is...
Okay, in the other forum I wrote that she pecks my clothes for food its just tugging but when I lay on the floor with them she tries her hardest to peck and pull my lips. She's done this as a three week old chick and now she's a month old and still doing it. I covered my face with my hands, she...
This little girl pecks and pulls my shirt, pants, and sometimes my skin for treats. Is there anyway I can stop this behavior? It doesn't hurt (unless she hits my skin) but I'm worried when she gets older it will hurt. It's cute now but not when she gets older and can do some serious pain.
Please someone talk me out of getting another chick. I have two already but I really want a Silkie! My two Cochins already lot to handle but the Silkie chicks are so cute! (My apologies if this is the wrong thread to post this topic)
