    Salmon Faverolles roos or pullets?

First time raising SFs. I did some reading and have been told they are easy to sex by feather color even at a young age. I'm thinking the 2 chicks in the front are lighter in color and pullets. The 2 behind, one hard to see are roos? If so, I think of 8, 5 are roos and 3 pullets. These are...

    What do you think???

These are 2, 2 week old Dorkings that I hatched out of 4 eggs from a local BYCer. I originally thought they only came in one color and one had to be a roo and the other a pullet, but I know now they come in a few different colors. So they are Dorkings and I'm not worried about sexing them yet...

Can someone share info on leg bands, please? How they are applied, how they are removed, sizing, ordering, ect.... My neighbor uses wing clips but I don't really think I want to use them. I'm not sure I could put them on. I'm hoping to raise a few select breeds but would like to be able to...

    Sexing Dorkings by color?

I'm pretty sure I read that Dorkings can be sexed by color. I only got 2 Dorkings out of my 4 eggs that I ordered so far. It may be way to early to tell as they hatched today, but maybe not, they are 2 different colors/patterns. Any guesses? Chick #1 This one was a bit shirk wrapped and...

Can you spoil a chicken, lol? This is my first time owning chickens and a little 6 week old pullet and I have become friends, she sleeps in the bend of my elbow as the others play, if I put her down she bumps her chest on my foot or hops up and down til I pick her up. She really loves hanging...

I'm learning more and more everyday and now want to know what kind of birds I have, lol.... These hens were gifted to me about 3 weeks ago. The guys said the rooster was hard on them, hence the lose of feathers, I assume. So what are they all and will the feathers grow back? First hen, good...

Hoping I'm in the right place. I have 6 adult hens, given to me about 3 weeks ago, they have settled in nicely. I also have 14 little chicks ranging in age from 2-7 weeks. I've had to pull the 3 youngest as the other 11 were picking on them too much. My goal is to get all of them into one...

    Questions on coops/runs

Hi, I sound like a broken record but I'm very new to chickens. After reading some of the posts I'm getting nervous about the safety of my chickens. I converted a horse stall into a 8x8 coop, this currently houses 6 hens. Also have 14 little birds in a 6x8 area. But I have the little birds in...

    Deformed feet question/pics

I may not be posting this in the correct place, but here goes. I'm VERY new to chickens. A friend gave me a total of 14 hatchlings from her farm, ranging in age from 2-7 weeks. They seemed to hatch out in groups a day or 2 apart. In the middle of the hatchings there were 3 chicks born with...
