It’s me again! 😂
So these chicks are both newly 7 weeks old. I got them to be siblings for my singleton chick (who turned out to be a full RIR cockerel, who I already have plans to be rehomed.)
I’m thinking I have at least one more cockerel, though I would like some second opinions!
These two...
I know that brahmas are notoriously difficult to identify by gender, so just looking for opinions. This is my only remaining Brahma (we had a Fox breech the coop they were in and lost our other two). So I’m curious to know what this one is so we can give him/her a name, as we have grown...
Curious as to what color these anconas are, particularly the smaller of the three. The two smallest are just shy of 2 weeks old and the other is 3 weeks old.
I know very little about brahmas as these are the only ones I have ever had. Well, other than the fact that I’ve read they’re very hard to guess gender on at a young age.
With that in mind, curious if any of you would like to guess on these two. They’re newly 5 weeks old.
Chick 1
Chick 2
So I had 2 broody mamas setting on eggs and the one wasn’t cut out for the long haul. I found that she repeatedly broke eggs and pooped the nest. In my efforts to save her remaining eggs, I believe I contaminated the rest, resulting in only one chick hatching. Live and learn I suppose!
In any...
When I went to let my ducks out of the duck house this morning, to my dismay I saw that one of my 1 month old ducklings had tried to wedge herself between a barricade I had placed inside the house.
I’m integrating these two new little ones with the rest of the flock and used a dog kennel...
Hey everybody. I have a nearly 8 week old Ancona duckling who grew much faster than the rest of my mixed flock. I’m wondering if I need to wrap her wing, as I noticed she is having trouble with her left wing drooping.
She frequently is adjusting it and the right wing appears to be held up more...
Hey all. I have 2 broodys who are on day 8-9, and neither will leave their nest unless moved. This evening when I went to check on one of them, I saw she had a messy bottom and several of her eggs were covered in broody poo mess 😭
Wondering if any of these eggs will still be viable now? I...
So I have 22 fertile eggs that my 2 broodys are setting on at the moment. Currently on day 6. When I have candled them, I see development on all but 2, which appear to be duds.
How long do I wait before removing and disposing of those 2 eggs? I’ve read conflicting things and wanted your guys’...
So I was at our local TSC today getting supplies for my broody hen when I saw a shipment of “Ameraucana” marked pullets. I figure since I’m going to have baby chicks here soon anyway, may as well scoop up a few more bc why not? 🤪
I know that these aren’t true Ameraucanas but I’m wondering what...
I currently have two broody hens, but the one pictured here (named Cruella) has been SO moody and even when I remove her from the coop to try to get her off the nest to free range (which she used to love wandering more than anyone else) she just stalks the chicken run for how to get back inside...
New and inexperienced duck mama. My original batch of 3 TSC ducklings are just now 6 weeks old. Over the last day or two I’ve thought I heard a quack or a proto-quack randomly when I go out and feed them.
Today after letting them go for a swim I went to take them individually back inside where...
My husband and daughter brought home some one or two day old ducks from TSC. They’re now just 4 weeks old and I was wondering if folks could tell me which breeds we have here?
I figured the yellow must be a white crested and I thought the black may have been a Cayuga but now not so sure with...
Hey everybody! So we have 8 EE’s that are currently 10.5 weeks old. We got them from a local farm at 5 weeks and they were advertised as pullets. We are new to chicken rearing and I was curious as to whether or not we have any surprise cockerels in the bunch. 😂 Thoughts?
My husband and I recently bought some black Australorp pullets (aged 6 weeks at the time) from a local farm to integrate with our mixed breed flock. They’re currently 10 weeks old, and one of the four has super dark, huge black eyes along with a black comb.
Wondering if this is a mutation or...
Hello everyone! New poster, have lurked for a while before registering and posting. A friend of mine was looking to rehome a couple of her Wyandotte’s. The father is a BLRW and mother a BLG Wyandotte.
I’m curious as to whether these two are cockerels or pullets. They’re between 7 and 8 weeks old.
