Well after multiple multiple weekends finishing with a Labor Day of cleaning up all the scrap..the Coop and run are complete! I hope you enjoy, we all worked hard on it..The finishing touch was hanging the names the girls made..
So I am in the finishing stages of the run..It is very large (12 x 20 x 16 x 12) since they will not be free ranging. I am using 19 guage hardware cloth (1/2 inch by 1/2 inch) spacing, stapled (with galvanized 1 inch staples..the kind you hammer in) to 2 x 4 studs). I will be burying the cloth...
So finally finished the coop and moved the chicks in yesterday morning. Still got a few minor things to do on the coop but its 99% done. (Have not done the next boxes yet as well.)
I am getting carried away on the run but its all good...Hoping to get that done by the end of the week so they can...
My little one (12 yrs old) has been beggin me for a 'pygmie' goat. I am building the 'taj mahal' of chicken runs..((at least as exhausted as I am it feels that way). Its approx 16 x 20 and I only have 6 chickens..
So can I put a mini goat in with them without issue?
I have an 8 foot 2x4 roosting poll. Currently it is turned wide side facing up vs the narrow side and set at 36 inches up.
Should I change it or is it okay? Also 36 inches, good height without any type of ladder?

The chickens are now 5 weeks old are currently in my garage in a large dog crate.
The coop is appox 2 or 3 days from being completed.
Still have nice weather here in CT, warm days and the nights in upper 60s/low 70s..Currently the heat lamp is on almost all the time..(if warm out and I am home...
I will add pictures soon which I am sure will help in forming comments..
FYI: The coop will hold 6 full size hens and I live in CT. (Chicken Breeds: 2 Dominiques, 2 East Eggers, 2 Wyandottes)
There are question built into the summary as well.
THANKS A BUNCH FOR ANY INPUT:)
Here is what I got to...
My first post so glad to be here.
Looking to sponge off the wealth of info here on caring and raising chickens..
I have 4 week old baby chicks who are growing rapidly. Currently building their coop/run and hope to be done within the next week or two.
