Has anyone ever seen white lumps develop on a chicken's earlobe? If so, what is known about this? Is it a symptom of something? Our lavender orpington has this. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
Antoinette is a 2yr French BC Maran. She is the queen Bee and beautiful! She once acted like she was going to care for an egg and tried building a nest around her. she has never layed an egg. Will she ever?
Your thoughts please,

We have a French blk copper maran who is now just 11 mos old. I’m just concerned about her starting her egg laying and when it could be. Hubby says to be patient but I’m curious about what others may think.
Any helpful info would be appreciated.
We have a 21 week old speckled Sussex who we have been nursing back to health. For the last 2 weeks we have been taking her out to the brooder pen (12 sq ft w/ roost bar). She is now running all over and jumping on the roost and communicating with the other girls. 5 are her same age and the...
I have 2 12 week old pullets who have runny noses. One seemed to have labored breathing. Both have good eating and drinking. I read that I could give colloidal silver. Been using it on them for about 4 days now. The breathing appears normal now but still runny noses. I just read about...
Our new girls are now 14 and 12 week old. We have them in their pen inside our chicken run. We have had them in the run with the older girls for 8 days.
We are thinking of releasing them into the flock in a few days. Should we wait longer before we integrate them? What are your thoughts?
Our 6 month old hen has gone broody. 3 days now. The other pullets (same age) have started attacking her. She is not hatching any eggs.
Question: should we break her broody phase? Will it help her readjust to the flock? Is the attacking due to the others noticing a difference in her?
So excited our Chocolate English Orpington was the first to lay an egg! Then she dropped 2 soft eggs from the roosting bar that same night. A 2nd fresh egg day 3 and another day 5 with another soft egg. No eggs in 3 days. Hmmm?
I’ve been reading all I can about laying eggs. All of our flock...
I received mulch from an arborist. I was excited to get it for my chicken run. Looking at it, there’s quite a bit of mold in it. Don’t think i should use it. Wanted wood chips. Your thoughts? I keep thinking it’s bad for the girls.
I am signing up for a wood chip drop. In my area, there are some Eucalyptus trees. I am concerned about the health of my chickens and this type of wood. Is it safe to use?
Our chickens are 18 and 19 weeks old. The Isabel Orpingtons are 18 weeks old and are twice the size of the 19 week pullets.
I am sure we have either 1 or 2 Isabel Orpington cockerels. No one has crowed yet but 2 have identical markings.
Your thoughts on them will be greatly appreciated!
We gave our pullets a hanging head of cabbage for the first time. In less than 25 hrs it was gone!
Obviously, they loved it. How often can we give them a head of cabbage? Don’t want to overdo this.
Your thoughts?
I posted before as we thought our 9 week Polish pullet had an injured leg, possibly from being stepped on.
We separated her from the rest to give her time to regain her strength in her leg. She seemed to be improving a bit as she would take a few steps and then sit. She eats and is drinking but...
My 9wk old Polish baby appears to have an injured rt leg. She is able to walk on it with a little limp but immediately rests and does not place any weight on the foot when she lays down. She has her leg pushed out in front of her. I did hold her any feel her leg up and down including the foot...
Here is a picture of 2 of our Isabels. Your thoughts on whether they are hens or cockerels? We’ve really gotten to love them and would hate to have to give them up. They are 7 weeks old.
One of our baby chicks was able to get some threading and swallow it, and we don’t know how to remove it. Anyone with some immediate answers please reply.
Our chicks are 3 & 4 weeks old. I find that they are sometimes resting away from the brooder plate, next to it, or halfway in and out. The room temperature is mid 60s - 70.1.
They seem comfortable but hubby is afraid of them becoming too cold.
We raised the plate and seemed that more would go...
Hi all,
My husband and I noticed a single stool with blood in it. Also noticed another looking beige in color. Husband said it looked like mucus. All are vaccinated for Marek's and 5 are vaccinated for coccidiosis. 3 are not.
We are concerned. We have Corid on hand.
Please advise as we are...
