I hatched out my EE in mid May and she laid her first egg this week and it was light brown. She hatched out from a green egg. Will my EE eventually lay green eggs or will she continue to lay brown ones? What is your experience/opinion? Thanks!
I have a 19 week old pullet who has a cracked beaked right down the center. Just noticed it today. Doesn't seem to bother her. I dont want it to get worse. Should i seal it up with super glue?
I was sitting on the grass watching my chickens free range when my oldest EE came up and happened to poop next to me. I could see that the poop was moving so I investigated. There were a ton of worms moving around in the poo! Probably about 15 or so I would guess. What do I do? There are...
So I have four polish eggs left still waiting to hatch out. No pips, no movement. Candled them and they are all very dark and look great. I did the float test. They all floated but no movement or sounds...at all. I assume this means they are dead, no? I have a genisis 1588 with the auto...
Has anybody gone to the chicken swap at The Cement Barn in Cerro Gordo NC? It happens on the third Saturday of each month starting a daybreak. I have three 5 week old cockerels that need to go and I was thinking of bringing them there to sell/trade. Thanks!
FYI I posted this in the raising baby chicks forum as well but I am hoping to have more responses.
So I was given a very very sweet pullet that is about 5-7 weeks old yesterday. I want to integrate her in with my other 7 4.5 week old chicks. I just made an attempt to integrate and my one...
So I was given a very very sweet pullet that is about 5-7 weeks old yesterday. I want to integrate her in with my other 7 4.5 week old chicks. I just made an attempt to integrate and my one head cockerel chased her away and won't let her come close to the flock. My other pullets could care...
Hi all! I have a rescued chicken that was given to me today. The lady who rescued her said that it was cornered in a yard by a dog. The woman, who rescues all kinds of birds, said that she has had s/he for about 4-5 weeks and when she first got it it was mostly all yellow down. So I guess it...
I hope that I have posted this in the correct forum, if not, please let me know and I will move it. But I just hatched out some chicks last week. I have cleaned my styrofoam genisis bator with hot water and soap. However there are some small stains on the styrofoam that I could not get off...
My DH found one of my chicks dead this morning. She was perfectly fine, healthy and active. I picked her up and noticed that she had a crumble of med chick starter feed in her mouth and I assume she choked. Has anybody have this happen before? I am so upset. She was an awesome little chick...
I have a chick that hatched out sometime last night. I came home from work and it still looked wet but the other one that hatched last night looked dry. So I took out the one that still looked wet and its feathers are stuck to it's body and are hard, like super glue. I have read about this...
I am confused about humidity levels at lockdown. Can you please share with me what you set your humidity at at lockdown? I filled up all the reservoirs that my instruction manual for my bator says for lockdown and my humidity is at 83%ish right now. I have been lurking on here and other seem...
I have one egg that is pipped at the wrong end. I am 110% sure its the wrong end the breeder even marked the top of the egg. They are Easter eggers and I have them in a paper egg carton. Should I be worried? Advice is welcome! Thanks. Oh and this is only my third hatch and my other two...
Bummed out. I just gave away my four roosters that I hatched out in January. They were my very first chickens I have ever hatched out. They all went together out on some guys farm who says he has thirteen pens of chickens and swears that he is an avid chicken lover too. I'm just sad to see my...
I have two roos right now, I'm looking to get rid of them ASAP as one of them have started to be more aggresive towards me. I have hatched them out and they are about 12 weeks old. But in the meantime while I'm finding them a new home, is there anyway for me to show the roo that I'm in charge...
Here is a Blue Laced Wyandotte who is approx 10 weeks old. Is it a roo or a hen? In the last picture the one in question is in the back. I'm pretty sure that the one in front is a hen, but please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!
I'm fairly confident that this is a roo, but need some experts to to verify. This chicken is about 10 weeks old in these pics. Thanks! Also in the last pic, the mystery gender chicken is in the back, I just included a pic that had another one of the same breed and I'm pretty sure that one is...
