EDIT: I added pics below, had the wife run out and take some, not the best and not what i would have taken but i added them below anyway. Please pardon the inclusion of some of my RIR hens as well as the one roo who has his tail feathers broken off. Thanks
Hate to do it but we will be away...
I have 12 BC Chicks that hatched late last night and this morning(may have a couple more late hatchers by tonight that i will throw in as extras for free if they do). They are Wade jean Lines and all have feathered legs. Below are pictures of how dark my hens eggs are (diregard the RIR eggs)...

Here are a couple pictures of actual eggs my hens are laying. (disregard the...
Need to know how high off the floor to make the opening. We plan to use the deep litter method and we dont want them dragging out all the shabings with them. Thanks
I have 6 BC Marans Chicks available. They were hatched this past Friday and Saturday. The eggs pictured below are the actual eggs they were hatched from. They are Wade Jean lines and all have feathered legs. I much prefer at this point to either have local pickup or I am willing to meet about...
It appears i have more eggs developing than i expected. I only wanted 3 or 4 and it looks like there are 12 out of the ones i set that are good and due to hatch this coming Sat the 4th. These are from my hen that was killed so i scrounged all of her eggs out of the fridge that she laid for the 3...

A Retired School Bus! Think about it! Cheap!, Less than $500 around here for a HUGE one, non running of course. If you want a running one well $1500 will get you a semi ugly one.

Went out for this evenings feeding and found one of my RIR hens as pictured below. She is/was the most submissive of the hens and the one the 2 roosters always jumped on the most grabbing her comb which has been long non existent. I am not sure if the roosters initially started the wound or what...
Wasnt able to get home last night to collect eggs so i have about a dozen eggs from yesterdays laying and todays, half of which i am positive got frozen overnight. None cracked but i am not sure if i should just throw them or is they would still be suitable to use after they thawed out. THanks
I have 18 2 week old chicks. Its to cold to move them outside so i have no choice but to keep them in the house. I cant stand the stink. I change papers several times a day and i dont know what else to do. I am hoping someone has a suggestion or these are going out to fend for themselves real quick!
Take one K9 exercise pen, wrap with chicken wire, toss in one spare dogloo, some straw, a feeder and waterer, top off with a heat lamp and viola ! No more stinking up the house!!
I bent up a piece of hail screen to put over the opening (Thanks Katy for the tip) for a few nights to keep them in...
Looking for something simple to put together for growing chicks out to the point they can be introduced to the rest of the flock. Just wanted to see what others have done to get some ideas. Looking for something for say up to 20 chicks at a time. Thanks
