Gently used Hovabator 1588, turner, spot check thermometer and hygrometer available for $160 including shipping.
I bought this for myself for Christmas, hatched quail and 2 sets of chickens and now I am trying to downsize on my "stuff" for a move. Had fantastic hatches and if I buy a bator...
Boy or girl... I am leaning boy, but hoping girl! Born on Easter Weekend
Another EE or Olive egger... black ameracauna x black copper marans
Blue Australorp- I say pullet- born 3 weeks after easter...
Thanks in advance for your input!
I have had a couple of really good hatches and have too many chickens.
I have a group of chicks hatched on Easter weekend that are almost fully feathered. These chicks are mixes- Straight run $3 each. We can make educated guesses at this point, but I can't guarantee one way or the other who is...
These girls were shipped to me from Welp Hatchery on 6-23-08 along with an order of Cornish rocks. I ordered cochins in hopes that ONE would go broody, but instead, all three have! I am not a breeder and instead of constantly having to break a broody I think I would rather sell these 2 girls to...
I have a cochin sitting on 4 eggs. 2 are brown, 2 are green. She has them all under here, but has them in 2 separate:lol: bowls in the nest. She is covering both, but it is like she is sorting them out...
Mine.... no way those are mine!
I hate to break it to her, neither are hers, but she...
Ok, so I have a cochin sitting right now and I have put her in her own little broody pen with all the comforts of home (nest, food, water, shavings, eggs) and I don't know what I should feed once the chicks arrive. Normally I would feed medicated chick starter, but I don't know if that is good...
I am offering this weekends eggs for shipment on Monday. You will get 12+. I have a dozen of these eggs in my incubator and they are all developing.
The rooster is the cuckoo Marans in my avatar photo. The hens are:
3 white cochins
3 cuckoo Marans
1 buff Orpington
1 barred rock
These birds...
Yeah! Thanks to you all on BYC my first ever hatchling is out of it's shell. I have a batch of quail I bought right here on BST and when I came home from work I had 9 pips. Well, I just went to recount the pips, and wait... where'd the top of that shell, OMG It snuck out in the time it took me...
Took my quail eggs out of the turner, filled the water trays, put down some towels for traction, and placed the eggs into the paper carton I had for hatching. Well after a couple hours I noticed the paper egg carton was wicking water and I decided to open the bator and take them out to place...
So now I guess I need to set the basement up as a permanent brooder?
Ordered a genesis 1588 last night. I am going to wait till at least February to start hatching... uh huh...
Help!

We have our first snow today. I just wanted to share. Oh, and there is a duck too!
Back out to work on the coop!
I know BYC has a ton of info on incubating and hatching, but I am wondering if there are any books out there you hatch-a-holics recommend? I can't surf at work, but books I can sneak. LOL
I will be addicted like the rest of you by March, I just need to get myself ready.
Thanks
Looking for fully feathered pullets to join my flock. No roosters- have enough of those. Not picky about breeds just looking to get more buddies to cuddle with for the winter. Large coop and safe run, good food, and company awaits.
I moved and ended up with a larger coop than I anticipated...
After a predator attack I am left with one lone duck. I would love to find him a home with other ducks. He came from Ideal back in July. I am assuming it is a he because he is very quiet. He has a very small crest. (Like alfalfa on "our gang")
I will not ship.
email of message through the...
I recently moved and found myself with a much larger coop than I had previously- so I am looking for some unwanted chickens to help keep the girls a bit warmer this winter.
I currently have a 12 x 12 coop, with a 10 x 15 run off of it. 7 pullets are lost in it. I am willing to pay or take them...
Ok, it isn't really BST, but I have available a young dog in need of a new home.
This is a pup from my own breeding who was returned to me at 4 years old.
He is housebroken, crate trained, not destructive, good with other dogs, good with cats, good with people, stable in all environments-...
This is going to be more or less a vent- so read if you want...
I am going to move out of my house. The same one I bought just 2 years ago, and place it on the market. I am going to move back with my old roomate. She is alone, I am alone, and we are both struggling. As bad a time as I know...
I processed 4 cornish x's yesterday. I was apparently off my game. I overscalded all but one bird. One I went ahead and skinned, but the other two are still intact.
I guess what I need to know is can I still keep these guys for roasters? The skin didn't tear, it just has that waxy look and I...
I have some pekin ducks from Ideal hatchery that I would be willing to part with. They were hatched 7-16. Great pets, meat, or eggs. If roast duckling was what you would be interested in, they will be ready for processing around Labor Day.
$10 each. 6 available. If you take all 6, I will make...
My favorite hen, Gabby, the BA, got into my German Shepherd's pen this morning. He is older and has worn all his teeth flat, but he has a very very hard grip. He spotted her about the same time I did and he had her. I got her away from him and she is not punctured anywhere, but she has problems...
