What is the main difference or are you able to tell at a glance? I have four red chickens... Two of them are darker, almost brown does that mean that they are RIR? Thanks in advance for your help!
How often does a hen get broody in a year? My hens first cluck this year are out and about on their own and she is sitting on more eggs! I didn't know that chickens hatched more than one clutch a year.
I got this chick at the feed store and it was sold as a a silver laced wyandotte, but once I got it home, I saw that it has a single comb, but the other chicks look to have a rose comb. Sooo, what is this little one?
This is a back shot
And the front
I had thought that my hen was a black giant or maybe an black australorps, but some think she is a black sex-link... What defines the difference between them?
Here she is again.
This is her as a chick last year:
My hen Gypsy hatched out 5 chicks, and until recently I thought they were all hers... now that some of the feathers are growing out, I'm not so sure. The chick has some light barring, but I don't have a barred rock. The father is Sultan (name not breed) and there are a few possibilities for...
Okay, so I expect the first egg to be small... but I went out to the chicken coop and found the smallest egg ever! I only have chickens and the cage is fenced in on top as well so I know that another bird could not have laid this egg... What is up with this?
The egg on the right is a store...
Okay, I have been serching the forum for an answer to this question and I haven't found it yet although I'm sure it has been asked before. I thought it would be faster to just asked it again. Sorry if this is repetive to you seasoned chicken folk out there.
I have 2 White rocks, 1 Black...
What do you think, she is two months old.
And is this a RIR pullet? also two months old.
Buff Polish hen
roo EE or americana, still not sure in the difference between a fluff/tuff etc.
Dark Cornish hen.
My only pullet EE seems to be blind, she is eating and drinking but she has to find the food and she walks with her head down like she feeling her way around until her beak bumps into something. Is she worth keeping. I was hoping to have an ee female hen to go with my roo.. Is there anything...
Okay at first I thought these two chicks were the same breed, but now that they have feathered up I'm not so sure... One has spots on the underside and the other has more lines...
What do all you think?
